Top Five Places for Waterfront Dining

Our picks for the best places to go to enjoy some outdoor waterfront dining

1. Water Works Restaurant & Lounge

Neighborhood: Art Museum
640 Water Works Drive

With the Schuylkill River and Boathouse Row as a backdrop, the Water Works Restaurant and Lounge offers an incredibly picturesque setting for lunch or dinner on the outdoor patio of the restored 19th-century Neo-Classical historic Fairmount Water Works buildings. And there are plenty of seats — 120 on the outdoor riverside terrace.

Tip: In addition to lunch and dinner, the outdoor patio is also open for cocktails during the week and a prix fixe Sunday brunch.

2. Moshulu

Neighborhood: Penn’s Landing
401 S. Columbus Boulevard

The Moshulu, a 394-foot sailing vessel launched in 1904, is now permanently docked as a restaurant and bar at Penn’s Landing on the Delaware River in Philadelphia. The breathtaking views keep visitors coming back for twilight cocktails and delicious fare. The mood is casual at the upstairs Bongo Bar outdoor deck, where you can soak up the views and enjoy steaks, Kobe burgers and chicken grilled on the six foot-long barbecue.

Tip: The elegant Sunday brunch is only one reason the Moshulu earned the coveted AAA Four Diamond award. Families are welcome.

3. Keating’s River Grill

Neighborhood: Penn’s Landing
201 S. Columbus Boulevard

Keating’s large riverfront terrace offers front-row views of all the action on the Delaware River. Enjoy specialty cocktails and wines from Hyatt’s Signature wine list while watching the sunset after work and choose from an enticing selection of small plates on the all-day Terrace menu.

Tip: Keating’s boasts about 50+ seats on its riverside terrace — with seating available for cocktails only or for full dining service as well.

4. Manayunk Brewery & Restaurant

Neighborhood: Manayunk
4120 Main Street

The Manayunk Brewery and Restaurant is situated right on the mouth of the Manayunk Canal and its sprawling outdoor deck boasts amazing views of the Schuylkill River and is one of the city’s largest and best alfresco dining areas.

Tip: The Brewery hosts live bands regularly on its riverdeck.

5. The Landing Restaurant

Neighborhood: New Hope, Bucks County
22 N. Main Street, New Hope, PA

The Landing Restaurant has a gorgeous outdoor terrace that overlooks the Delaware River in the heart of the charming countryside town of New Hope. And the Riverside Terrace at The Landing is big — approximately 50 tables — so you shouldn’t have to wait very long for a choice table. There’s an outdoor bar as well, if you just want to go for a few drinks.

Tip: The terrace is animal-friendly, so go ahead and bring your pup along with you.
