The Return of the Visit Philly Beer Garden Series for 2015
Awesome Friday Happy Hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day
Summer days are at hand, Philly, and it’s time to raise a glass to this city’s brilliant beer garden scene.
Last summer, Philadelphia’s beer gardens — both brand-new and tried-and-true — were the talk of the town. Philadelphians and visitors flocked to the great spaces and even The New York Times cited the emerging prevalence of beer gardens as a reason Philadelphia was ranked #3 in its 52 places to go in 2015.
This city’s craft brew scene embraces the ever-growing concentration of awesome beer gardens where eating and drinking alfresco is always on tap.
Truly, Philadelphia can certainly be recognized as a proper outdoor-drinking destination.

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that the Visit Philly Beer Garden Series will return in 2015 for its second season of kicking off summer weekends at Philadelphia’s best beer gardens.
Every Friday this summer from Memorial Day through Labor Day, Visit Philly will help start the weekend right with happy hour at a brilliant outdoor public space.
15 Fridays Between Memorial Day and Labor Day
This summer, the Visit Philly Beer Garden Series will celebrate the proliferation of beer gardens in Philadelphia in partnership with Delaware River Waterfront Corporation, Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Fairmount Park Conservancy, and Victory Brewing Company and Yards Brewing Company.
The series will run for 15 weeks from Friday, May 22 through Friday, September 4 (skipping Friday, July 3), and take up residency at a handful of the city’s largest beer gardens that are activating cool public spaces.
While Philadelphia has numerous awesome spots for outdoor beers, the Visit Philly Beer Garden Series will be visiting the biggest of Philly’s beer garden scene, those seasonal spaces that energize public spaces.
Launching Friday, May 22 at Spruce Street Harbor Park
On Memorial Day weekend, Spruce Street Harbor Park will re-open, and the brand-new first-for-Philadelphia RiverRink Summerfest will debut with the city’s only outdoor roller skating rink — yes, roller skating at Penn’s Landing!
Without a doubt, the installation of Spruce Street Harbor Park last summer and RiverRink Winterfest this winter were both resounding successes.
And we truly couldn’t be more thrilled about the return and expansion of the waterfront’s summertime placemaking installations.
Launching on Friday, May 22 at Spruce Street Harbor Park, the pop-up happy hours will run from 5 to 8 p.m. and include specials on food and local craft beer, as well as giveaways and social ops from the Visit Philly team.

Next Up: The Oval
After Philadelphia’s massive 4th of July festivities wind down, we’ll take the series to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and its pop-up oasis, The Oval.
This summer, the eight-acre pop-up park at 24th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway will return for a six-week season from July 15 through August 23 — with the Visit Philly Beer Garden Series popping up for happy hours starting July 17 — and include an art installation collaboration with Mural Arts, it’s ever-popular beer garden, food trucks and themed days of programming every week from Wednesday through Sunday.
The beer garden will be the place to hangout in late summer, with its shady setting and lively programming schedule. The Visit Philly Beer Garden Series is along for the ride, and will pop up with happy hours 5-8 p.m. every Friday, July 17-August 21.
The beer garden at The Oval was a hit last year, and the popular outdoor haunt returns this summer with a Visit Philly Beer Garden Series residency kicking off on Friday, July 17. Cheers! (Photo by M. Fischetti for Visit Philadelphia)
Beer Garden Series Expands For Last Two Weekends
Summer may be winding down, but Philadelphia’s beer garden season is going strong.
To close out the season with a bang, the series kicks up the deals with happy hour at three beer gardens for the final two Fridays before Labor Day.
On Friday, August 28 and Friday, September 4, happy hour will run from 5 to 8 p.m. at the PHS Pop-Up Garden on South Street and at both Spruce Street Harbor Park and RiverRink Summerfest on the Delaware River Waterfront.
That’s three happy hours to choose from, so make plans to visit any — or better yet, all! — of the Visit Philly Beer Garden Happy Hour Series end-of-season locations to savor summer in amazing outdoor spaces, enjoy happy hour deals and score summer swag from Visit Philadelphia — think free sunglasses or free koozies.
