Overview

One of Philly’s finest outdoor craft bazaars is back for its 11th year — just in time for Mother’s Day.

More than 150 local and national artists have been selected to set up shop outdoors for two days at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, May 10-11, for the annual fair.

Rain or shine, shoppers can expect super high-quality handmade goods that stay true to Art Star Gallery & Boutique’s popular, quirky aesthetic, with items ranging from fine prints and sculptures to decorative housewares, clothing, jewelry, paper goods, toys, accessories and tons of one-of-a-kind curiosities.

This year, around half of the curated selection of vendors are brand new to the show, so annual attendees can count on fresh finds in 2014.

The Food and the Music

A number of festival-friendly food offerings will be served up over the weekend, too.

Traditional fair food will be available, but also look for vegetarian/vegan fare from Soy Cafe and food truck goodies. The tasty arepas of Delicias will be dished, as well as the awesome macaroni and cheese from Mac Mart Cart.

On the entertainment side, the main stage of the Great Plaza will rock for two days with a lineup of a free, local music from a dozen local indie and roots bands courtesy of the good folks at Philebrity.

Music is slated to play from 1 to 5 p.m. on the hour both days. Check out the live music schedule for both days by clicking the button below.

The Activities

Local artists and arts organizations are set to come out to the bazaar to invite attendees to do a little creating of their own with family-friendly make-and-take stations and craft demonstrations.

Look for local multimedia artist Candy Depew, a.k.a. CandyCoated (who has exhibited in the past at the Philadelphia Museum of Art) to be on hand with a live card-printing operation.

The Cut + Paste Photobooth will be on-site with its selection of accessories and backgrounds to commemorate the day with a photo, and additional make-and-take crafty fun will come from InLiquid, Little Chair Printing, the Philadelphia Sculpture Gym and more.
