Fun fact: The first American motorcycle was engineered by a Swedish-American man in Brooklyn, NY, at the turn of the 20th century.

Learn more about Swedish immigrant Carl Oscar Hedstrom’s “motocycle” at Indian Nation: Indian Motorcycles and America, an exhibit at the American Swedish Historical Museum through August 23.

Indian Nation features 12 rare Indian motorcycles — many of which have never been seen before — that were manufactured over a 50-year period between 1903 and 1953. Vintage ads, historic photos, engines and other racing memorabilia round out the exhibit.
