Kennett Run
May 15: A spring run through Chester County
Description
Date
May 15, 2010
The Experience
Serious runners, biathletes and weekend warriors will find the right kind of challenge at this family-friendly event, held each year in the charming and historic borough of Kennett Square. There’s a one-mile fun walk, 5K and 10K runs and a PoweRun biathlon for serious athletes.
The U.S. Track and Field-certified races start in downtown Kennett Square and finish next to the community lake in Anson B. Nixon Park. A post-race party includes food and beverages (including draft beer), music, a raffle and a final awards ceremony.
So start training, and get ready for this family-friendly event!
The event is hosted by the Kennett Run Charities Board, which is comprised of volunteers from the Rotary Club of Kennett Square, the Rotary Club of Longwood, the Lions Club, the Exchange Club, the Kennett Area YMCA and many individual volunteers.
No bicycles, skates, dogs or unregistered persons will be allowed on the course. Headsets and strollers are allowed only in walks.
Come Prepared
Registration is required. Some borough roads will be closed to traffic for the run. There’s free parking in the garage one block from the starting line on a first-come, first-serve basis. Shuttle buses will run from the post-race party back to the starting line after the race is over.
Outsider’s Tip
The first 900 registrants get a free T-shirt, and this year’s master of ceremonies for the awards presentation will be Amy Freeze, an NBC 10 meteorologist from Philadelphia.
