Race starts at 8:15 a.m.

This Mother’s Day, the Philadelphia Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure invites everyone in the Delaware Valley and beyond to celebrate 25 years of fighting to end breast cancer at the annual Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure.

The festivities take place at Eakins Oval at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. For the past quarter century, the Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure has been more than simply a 5K run and 5K walk. It’s a Mother’s Day tradition, with families, co-workers and best friends of all ages gathering together in the movement to fight breast cancer.

Giveaways, family entertainment and more

In addition to the 5K run/walk (which begins at 8:15 a.m.), the morning’s events will include a one-mile Fun Walk, sponsor booths with giveaways, raffles, award ceremony, motivating speeches from numerous officials and celebrities, live music from Matt Goss, family entertainment, prize drawings and award presentations.
