Description

This Mother’s Day, the Philadelphia Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure invites everyone in the Delaware Valley and beyond to “Embrace the Honor and Empower the Promise” to end breast cancer at the annual Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure.

The festivities take place on May 8, 2011 at Eakins Oval at the Philadelphia Art Museum. For the past 19 years, the Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure has been more than simply a 5K run and 5K walk. It is a Mother’s Day tradition, with families, co-workers and best friends of all ages gathering together in the movement to fight breast cancer.

The Susan G. Komen Philadelphia Race for the Cure begins at 6 a.m. with a special Survivors’ breakfast at Eakins Oval and concludes around 12 noon.

In addition to the 5K run/walk, the morning’s events will include a one-mile Fun Walk, sponsor booths with giveaways, new car raffle, award ceremony, motivating speeches from numerous officials and celebrities, family entertainment, prize drawings and award presentations.
