The prolific Lai family’s first Philadelphia business has been around for decades, founded at a time when Cedar Park was a largely Southeast Asian community. It’s well-known throughout Philly for its banh mi, or Viet-style hoagies including the popular tofu hoagie. For at-home cooks, the shop is a go-to for hard-to-find ingredients.

The small but well-appointed park that gives this neighborhood its name is host to everyday visitors, as well as regular events like Friday Night Jazz, a free live-music series.

Danger Danger Gallery

Underground sound

The vibe here is one of a house party, but these aren’t your typical college bands. Great underground music, hipster clientele and a definitely unfancy feel make this a classic West Philly haunt. Tip: Grab a growler from Dock Street Brewery before heading to the BYOB show.
