Thomas Hockley House
Frank Furness (1875/1894)
Description
Thomas Hockley was an early supporter of Furness’s work and commissioned the architect to build his new house before Furness was very well known. The resulting Hockley House demonstrates Furness’s distinctive use of brick to create rich texture and patterns.
Visiting
The Hockley House is a private residence, but its location at the corner of 21st and Locust Streets makes it easy for walk-up visitors to examine and appreciate its exterior.
