From a historical tradition that rocked the 1930s, to the dance boom of the past two decades, Philadelphia is a dancing city. With more than 50 professional dance companies and a number of excellent venues, the city boasts an internationally renowned modern dance company; a world-class ballet troupe; and African, hip-hop, tap, salsa, Flamenco, Asian and postmodern ensembles.
Spacious theaters on Broad Street’s Avenue of the Arts coexist with small, intimate spaces devoted to experimental ventures. Philly is an urban treasure trove offering a stunning array of performances and a wealth of talent with goodies for new audiences and dance connoisseurs.
