Walk down Broad Street between Walnut and Spruce, and you might notice plaque after plaque cemented into the sidewalk depicting the monikers of musical legends.

Established in 1986, the Walk of Fame is the creation of the Philadelphia Music Alliance, a community-based, non-profit dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the city’s music scene.

It features more than 100 bronze plates that pay tribute to artists whose origins are rooted in the Philadelphia region. From jazz legends like Billie Holiday to multi-Grammy winners The Roots, artists spanning five decades of musical history grace the golden inscriptions on each rectangular accolade.

The Philadelphia Music Alliance continues to induct new members with each forthcoming decade.
