Cozy brewpub serving housemade beer in Fairmount



Earth Bread + Brewery’s Tom Baker and Peggy Zwerver have teamed up with Stew and Julie Keener of Baggataway Tavern in West Conshohocken to create a brewpub in Philadelphia’s Fairmount neighborhood.

“Hygge”, a Danish concept, represents the idea of making the every day more meaningful, beautiful or special. For the crew at Bar Hygge, that means enabling guests to turn a weeknight or weekend dinner into a cozy, neighborhood experience of contemporary American food paired with the choice of seven unique, house-made brews.

Reclaimed materials fill the brewpub’s atmosphere and a casual bar-top sits at the center of the restaurant with table areas on each side. In addition to its own beer, Hygge serves up wine on tap alongside shareable boards of veggies, cheese and meat and bar-food classics like a hearty grass-fed beef burger with beer-braised onions.
