Bistrot La Minette
An authentic French bistrot in the Queen Village neighborhood
Bistrot La Minette is the realization of Chef Peter Woolsey’s dream to bring the charm and good taste of a French bistrot to Philadelphia’s dynamic restaurant scene. Serving both lunch and dinner, the restaurant frequently offers prix-fixe tasting menus.
Chef Woolsey is a veteran of the Stephen Starr organization (he cooked at the late Striped Bass and Washington Square), so diners can anticipate a meal from one of the best-experienced chefs in Philadelphia.
Chef Woolsey’s menu pays homage to traditional bistrot dishes as well as original variations on the familiar.
Diners will find a menu that evolves to reflect the seasons, the availability of ingredients and the inspiration of the chef. And herbivores can rest assured: vegetarian dishes can always be found on the menu.
Mise en Bouche (first course) selections include stuffed quail, escargots de bourgogne and a winter citrus salad.
Selections from the excellent Plats Principaux (main course) menu include mustard-braised rabbit, morbier bread pudding and white bean and lamb stew.
A sommelier will guide you through the wine selections, which include les vins by the pitcher or half-pitcher (French style).
Bistrot La Minette’s 17-month restoration process has revealed an authentic French experience in the center of Philadelphia’s Queen Village neighborhood.
Upon entering the restaurant, you’ll encounter a charming, Parisian-style bar at the entrance.
A red, velvet banquette runs along the southern wall and, towards the back of the space, you’ll find the kitchen open — so you can watch your meal transform from raw ingredients to rustic classics.
During the warm months, they offer sidewalk seating, as well as a awning-covered patio area, for those diners who prefer to take their meals al fresco.
During the warmer months, Bistrot La Minette’s courtyard is open for outdoor dining.
While you sip your white wine and nibble on esgargot in the open air, you’ll swear you’re in the South of France.
French Family Dinners
Bistrot La Minette also offers guests the option of dining family-style, just as the French often do.
They can accommodate parties between four and twenty for a friendly and casual meal.
