Paesano’s
Award-winning sandwiches in Northern Liberties
Description
Satiate your hunger for great sandwiches with Chef Peter McAndrews award-winning eatery on Girard Avenue.
Looking to add a bit of “gusto” to the ordinary sandwich shop, Chef McAndrews and partner Nathan Baynes transformed a small storefront in Northern Liberties into a destination for distinctive Philly-style sandwiches.
These are not your average hoagies, with succulent selections like the Daddy Wad, a spin on a traditional Italian hoagie with mortadella, Genoa salami, sopressata, cappacolla and prosciutto di Parma and the namesake Paesano, beef brisket topped with roasted tomatoes, pepperincino, sharp provolone and a fried egg.
Hoagie Honors
In 2009, Paesano’s was awarded the Best of Philly: Sandwich Shop by Philadelphia Magazine and took top honors in Glen Macnow’s Great Hoagie Hunt.
Bon Appetit has also ranked Paesano’s Artista, topped with whole roasted suckling pig, Italian long hots, broccoli rabe and sharp provolone, among the top three dishes under $10.
Insider Tip
Paesano’s original location on Girard Avenue has very limited seating, so prepare to wait for a stool or just place your order to go. For a bit more space, Paesano’s II in the Italian Market (1017 S. 9th Street) has space for approximately 40 people.
