Dear Colleague,

Did you know? In addition to marketing in the U.S., we also promote Greater Philadelphia in Canada, which welcomes half-a-million visitors to the region each year and is Philadelphia’s largest international feeder market. Last week, our team hit the road to reach our northern neighbors at three events in just as many days.
Two Canadian Media Events: Kudos to our team for hosting two successful media events in Canada—one in Montreal and one in Toronto. On May 9 and 10, 63 media guests from the Montreal Times, Toronto Sun, Canadian Travel Press and other outlets heard the latest on Philadelphia’s Historic District, food and hotel scenes, and gardens, parks and public spaces. Special thanks to food writer Drew Lazor (pictured below; center) for offering his insight on the dining and drinking scene in Philly and to Aaron Gordon (pictured below; left), owner and spirit guide of 13th Street Cocktails, who led fun mixology classes.
The International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA) Annual Convention: The awards, which are sponsored by VISIT PHILADELPHIA®, celebrate trailblazers in LGBT travel. In a room of 200 U.S. and international media and LGBT travel and marketing professionals, our own Arturo Varela presented the storyteller award to travel journalist, editor and author Dirk Baumgartl. Other award recipients included Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, and special guests included cast members from Queer As Folk.
