Schuylkill Banks — the area along the southernmost eight miles of the Schuylkill River —includes 29 acres of neighborhood parks, four miles of recreational and commuter trails, two public boat docks, two skate parks, multiple piers and plazas, and sweeping views of the river and Philadelphia’s city skyline.
The riverfront destination is part of the Schuylkill River Trail, the regional Circuit Trails network and the national East Coast Greenway, with work underway to create a continuous river trail between several Philly attractions.
Schuylkill Banks is easily one of the most visited parks in Center City Philadelphia with an average of 33,000 visitors each week.
The popular waterfront spot is prime for riverside picnics, relaxing in a hammock, exploring the many tree groves and flowering meadows, birding during the spring and fall migrations, kayaking and riverboat rides, outdoor movie screenings, or one of the many other events that take place along the Banks.

Don’t miss the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk, which offers a breathtaking, 2,000-foot-long pathway that extends the trail from Locust Street to South Street.
The scenic expanse allows pedestrians, runners and cyclists to literally walk or ride over the river to some of the best skyline views around.

The Boardwalk features four widened overlooks with benches ideal for fishing, taking in the waterfront views and hanging out with friends, and solar-powered overhead lights illuminate the trail at night, making the area great for evening rides and runs.
Schuylkill Banks is easily accessible via SEPTA Regional Rail, the Market-Frankford Line, and multiple bus and trolley routes; Indego Bike Share; and car. Plus, the Philly PHLASH stops right at the northern end of the trail at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
There are 16 trail access points at key locations, many of which are ADA-accessible and include wayfinding and historical information to help elevate the experience.
