Highmark Mann has remained the summer home of The Philadelphia Orchestra since the 1930s.

Since the 1930s, Philadelphians have walked, driven or taken the trolley by the thousands to enjoy outdoor culture and to picnic at Fairmount Park’s Robin Hood Dell.

Occasional bad weather, droning planes overhead and the need to update to modern technology prompted music lover and businessman Frederic R. Mann to campaign for this state-of-the-art facility.

Two years after opening, the center was named in his honor.

Signature concert experiences at Highmark Mann include a view of Philadelphia’s stunning skyline, seats beneath Highmark Mann’s acoustically acclaimed TD Pavilion, picnics under the stars on the Great Lawn and onsite dining at Crescendo, the venue’s tented restaurant.

Meet up with friends by the historic Florentine Lions outside Highmark Mann’s South Gate and enter the main Plaza.

Whether guests prefer a buffet dinner with seasonal fare, a picnic on the lawn, a stop at the food trucks and beer garden, or a quick pick-up of delicious, casual snacks from the concession stands on the way to your seat, Highmark Mann offers a variety of dining and drink options.

During the orchestra’s outdoor season, guests can enjoy Highmark Mann’s “Summer Picnic Series” at select concerts, which allows guests to bring their own picnic (including wine and beer!).  Be sure to check Highmark Mann’s community calendar for free outdoor community events for children of all ages.
