History goes on full display during the Revolutionary Germantown Festival, a day-long affair that celebrates the rich history of the historic neighborhood.
The festival features costumed characters, live music, food and drink culminating with a reenactment of the Battle of Germantown, the only military battle ever fought within the borders of Philadelphia.
The day’s events are centered at Cliveden, the summer home of the Loyalist Chew family and the location of General George Washington’s failed attempt to liberate Philadelphia from British control in 1777.
The all-ages celebration features costumed characters, live music, food and drink.
La Revolutionary Germantown Festival largely takes place at Cliveden, but over the years has spanned more than a dozen additional historic attractions along Germantown Avenue, including Concord School & Upper Burying Ground, The Germantown White House, Johnson House Historic Site, Germantown Mennonite Meeting House and more.
The festival is jam-packed with events and all-ages activities throughout the day, including a George Washington meet-and-greet, tours of the Cliveden mansion, performances by the MacGregor Pipe Band and more.
