VISIT PHILADELPHIA® announced today that it has won six Adrian Awards from Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI), including a prestigious Platinum Award for its retargeting marketing program executed in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Convention Center (PCC). Since 2004, VISIT PHILADELPHIA has won 43 HSMAI Awards.

HSMAI, the industry’s leading advocate for intelligent, sustainable hotel revenue growth, received nearly 1,200 entries from travel companies, including big-brand hotel chains, major airlines, U.S. and international tourism boards, and marketing agencies. The gala took place on January 22, 2019.

For the fifth time in VISIT PHILADELPHIA history, the company received Platinum recognition—this time for its retargeting marketing program with the PCC. Executed in 2017, the pilot program encouraged potential PCC visitors to attend events, engaged with those visitors while they were here, encouraged them to do more while visiting and invited them to come back and sleep over again.

“The retargeting marketing program drove more than 1,200 hotel stays and more than $250,000 in direct revenue,” said John McNichol, president & CEO, PCC. “We are so proud of the work we did with VISIT PHILADELPHIA on this project and grateful for the recognition of such a collaborative initiative.”

Other winning VISIT PHILADELPHIA entries for 2018 include:

  • Gold: Redesigned & Reimagined Visitphilly.com in the Website category
  • Silver: VISIT PHILADELPHIA Media Center in the Online Press Room category
  • Silver: From Viewer To Doer: Facebook Videos Inspiring Travel (Flavors of Philly series) in the Facebook Mobile Video category
  • Silver: We Got You: Inspiring Black Travelers To Visit Philly in the Multicultural Marketing category
  • Bronze: Behind the Eats: Philadelphia in the Multimedia Series category

“VISIT PHILADELPHIA has always been forward-thinking in its approach to attracting visitors and building Philadelphia’s image and brand,” said Jeff Guaracino, president and CEO, VISIT PHILADELPHIA. “The Platinum Award, which recognizes the best of the best in select categories, shows that combining collaboration, technology and innovation can propel Philadelphia’s tourism and hospitality industry to greater heights.”
