Overview

Wizardry and wonder fill the air each October when Chestnut Hill transforms for Witches and Wizards Weekend.

Formerly the Harry Potter Festival, the new-for-2018 Witches and Wizards festival weekend takes over the charming neighborhood for spellbinding events that morph the village into an enchanting magic-filled haunt on Friday and Saturday.

This two-day event starts a new tradition that combines ghosts of wizards-past and fun activities for the entire family across multiple locations in Chestnut Hill.

Older witches and wizards can enjoy a Brews & Broomsticks pub crawl through outdoor beer gardens and have their fortunes told along the way from 7:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday, October 19.

From noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, attendees to the afternoon-long festivities will find fire-breathers, dancing zombies, hay rides, a costume parade and more. The popular Quidditch tournament returns, and Woodmere Art Museum hosts a straw maze, too.

The Experience

Philadelphia’s charming Chestnut Hill neighborhood is transformed into a magical world of spells and spooky thrills for all ages during Witches and Wizards festival weekend.

The updated Brews & Broomsticks Pub Crawl on Friday night includes food and drink specials, two outdoor beer gardens, costumed actors and fire breathers along Germantown Avenue, plus Witches and Wizards swag and live DJ entertainment throughout the evening.

On Saturday, the Philadelphia Brotherly Love Cup Quidditch Tournament returns for the ninth year — just one of the many attractions that brings thousands of people to this fun-filled fall event.

Throughout the daytime festivities, witches and wizards young and old can navigate a straw maze, see live circus performances, flex their archery muscles and more at locations throughout Chestnut Hill.

Note: There will be no closed street fair at the 2018 event. Germantown Avenue will remain open to vehicular traffic.
