The Heart of Brandywine Country

Delaware County is one of the most popular day trips from Philadelphia with its renowned historic sites, world famous gardens, wine trails, sports centers and some of the best dining and theater in the region.

You can tour elegant mansions like Winterthur and Nemours; go bird watching and hiking at the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge; follow in soldier’s footsteps across the Brandywine Battlefield or witness the rigors of 18th century life on a working plantation.

George Washington used the Benjamin Ring House for his headquarters before the battle, and though the house burned in the 1930s, it is now preserved to be what it looked like in 1777.
