A city with rich music roots, Philadelphia’s scene is set to flourish with The Fillmore Philadelphia, Live Nation’s conversion of the 125-year-old AJAX building on Frankford Ave. in Fishtown.

The Fillmore Philadelphia is three venues within one — a 2,500 capacity main room, a 450-capacity “club within the club” called The Foundry for up-and-coming local artists, DJs and smaller touring bands and a bar and lounge called Ajax Hall, where people can grab a bite to eat or a drink.

Throughout the venue, deluxe food-and-beverage offerings are available — think craft beer, small-batch liquor and a menu ranging from cheesesteaks to cheese plates.

The Layout and Vibe

An industrial-yet-warm atmosphere permeates the venue with concrete everywhere, including graffiti tags on the walls that survived the multi-million dollar facelift.

Huge overhead chandeliers remind patrons this isn’t an urban exploring expedition, though, and they didn’t just break into an abandoned factory.

The framework and history of the historic structure was not lost, nor was the spirit of the original Fillmore from San Francisco in the 1960s: a refurbished VW bus sits in the lobby to sell merchandise.

The Theaters

The main hall features two floors, great sightlines, top-notch production and sound and VIP service options.

The rear of the room also has built-in risers so that those in the back don’t miss out on any of the show. VIPs can also take in shows along the sides of the mezzanine level, complete with chairs and small tables for food and drinks.

The Circle Bar in the rear of The Foundry, doubles as a VIP room or small venue.

Getting There

Getting to the venue couldn’t be easier either. There are parking lots at the rear of the venue if you drive, ample bike parking if you ride and the music hall is located only a few blocks away from the Girard stop on the Market-Frankford Line.
