PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 19, 2026 – As Philadelphia bids farewell to an unforgettable summer, the celebration is far from over. This upcoming Labor Day Weekend, there are plenty of ways to keep the summer spirit going, with festivities for all ages happening throughout the city and beyond.

See Living History & Take a Tour

For those seeking history firsthand, the National Constitution Center's La fundación de Estados Unidos gallery tells the story of liberty, equality and government by consent. And the Casa de Betsy Ross raises the American flag — yes, the same one she personally stitched — every morning at 10 a.m

Residents and visitors can meander with a purpose en Bucks County Castillo de Fonthill on September 5 and 6, 2026. The 118-year-old structure, built by Henry Chapman Mercer, invites guests to tour at a leisurely pace, with guides stationed around the castle to answer questions and point them in the right direction.

En Museum of the American Revolution is devoting three days to interactive fun. Residents and visitors can experience living history at hands-on exhibits, highlighted by a neighborhood from the 1700s along with two “Discovery Carts” — one featuring objects crafted for the Continental Army, another showing how an old printing press worked. Museum educators lead 10-minute history talks, including a chat on the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Kids 12 and under get in free all Labor Day Weekend.

Meanwhile, the Weitzman National Museum of American Jewish History welcomes families to Colores de la creación, a vibrant playground of color, music and movement. 

And, since everyone loves a parade, cruise down to Sheet Metal Workers Local 19 Union Hall for the 39th Tri-State Labor Day Parade, from Columbus Boulevard toward Penn's Landing on September 7, 2026. 

Residents and visitors have the last chance to get interactive with Paul Ramírez Jonas’ Que suene la libertad sculpture, which is leaving Cherry Street Pier at the end of September. 

Visit Family-Friendly Attractions

Sesame Place closes out summer with a bang, filling the sky with colorful fireworks while Cookie Monster and Elmo rock out in the park on September 6, 2026.

Families and kids can also picnic with the Berenstain Bears during the Philadelphia Zoo's Teddy Bear Picnic on September 5, 2026. Under-the-radar shows include David Wilcox & Lucy Kaplansky in Bryn Mawr on September 6, 2026 and Peter Hook & The Light at Union Transfer on September 7, 2026.

The Bicycle Club of Philadelphia is offering two Sunday strolls on September 6, 2026, leaving from the Azalea Garden behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Also, Linvilla Orchards en Delaware County invites families to pick their own crops (and pet barnyard animals) throughout the holiday weekend from September 4 to 6, 2026. 

Find a Farm Stand, Eat Fresh Produce
The time for enjoying vine-ripened tomatoes and sweet-tapped watermelons is right now.

Plan a trip out to Carter Melons, where a fourth-generation business continues to set the gold standard for watermelons.
