Live From Philadelphia: Music, Comedy, Theater and More

PHILADELPHIA, September 29, 2026 – Philadelphia’s entertainment scene keeps the momentum going this fall and winter with live music, comedy, theater, cultural celebrations and family-friendly performances taking over venues across the city and surrounding region.

The coming months bring a packed lineup of activities and events. Music lovers can celebrate 10 years of Fête de la musique Philly, experience Coltrane 100, the continuing citywide tribute to jazz legend John Coltrane and ring in the new year at Festival HiJinx. Theatergoers can choose among Broadway favorites, comedies and thrillers, while families can catch kid-friendly productions featuring well-known characters and stories.

1200 Callowhill Street

An incubator for music, performance and creative programming in Philadelphia’s Callowhill neighborhood, the 12,000-square-foot venue welcomes national and international talent for concerts, DJ sets, literary showcases, art exhibits, burlesque performances and more. Upcoming events include Olivia O’Brien on Oct. 9, 2026 and Party Girl Halloween – A Night of Party Girl Anthems on Oct. 23, 2026, with additional concerts and events scheduled through the year.

City Winery Philadelphie
990 Filbert Street

At City Winery Philadelphia, live music pairs with the venue’s wine program and full-service restaurant. The intimate performance spaces host established soul, folk and jazz artists, local musicians, live podcast tapings and more. Upcoming highlights include Philadelphia native Musiq Soulchild, who returns for performances Dec. 17-22, 2026.

L'orchestre de Philadelphie
Marian Anderson Hall, 300 S. Broad Street

The Philadelphia Orchestra has long played a defining role in the city’s performing arts scene, earning international recognition for its distinctive sound and generations of acclaimed performances. The orchestra brings masterworks and celebrated guest artists to Marian Anderson Hall through its season. Upcoming highlights include Carmina Burana, Oct. 22-25, 2026, followed by Yo-Yo Ma and Emanuel Ax on Dec. 6, 2026. 

Fête de la musique Philly

Oct. 12-18, 2026

Philly Music Fest celebrates its 10th anniversary with seven nights of performances by 25 Philadelphia-area bands and musicians at independently owned venues throughout the region. This year’s lineup includes The Dillinger Escape Plan and RJD2 on Oct. 15, 2026, Sweet Pill on Oct. 16, 2026 and a slate of additional Philadelphia-area artists performing throughout the week.

Coltrane 100 Philly

Through Nov. 12, 2026

The months-long celebration of John Coltrane’s 100th birthday continues with concerts and community programming throughout the city. The celebration recognizes the jazz pioneer’s lasting connection to Philadelphia, his adopted hometown, with events at venues including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, LOVE Park, Highmark Mann Center for the Performing Arts and Temple Performing Arts Center. Upcoming programming includes Jazz Under the Stars on Sept. 30, 2026 and the 60th Anniversary Concert of Coltrane’s Offre on Nov. 12, 2026. For more information, check out our guide.

Festival HiJinx

Dec. 30-31, 2026

HiJinx Festival returns for its ninth year, bringing two nights of electronic dance music to Center City just in time for New Year’s Eve. The indoor festival spans genres including dubstep, trap, electro-soul and techno.

Comedy

Here are some of the city’s funniest comedy clubs and venues where there’s no shortage of events to choose from with something for every sense of humor. 

CSz Philadelphie
The Adrienne Theater, 2030 Sansom Street

CSz Philadelphia offers improv performances, classes, workshops and team-building programming at The Adrienne Theater in Rittenhouse, on Philly’s Funniest Block. The company is best known for ComedySportz, an audience-driven improv comedy competition and Philadelphia’s longest-running comedy show.

A longtime Rittenhouse comedy destination and a staple on Philly’s Funniest Block, Helium Comedy Club hosts open mics, nationally touring headliners, specialty comedy shows and classes throughout the year. The club also offers a full-service food and drink menu, giving audiences a close-up comedy experience in an intimate showroom.

Next In Line Comedy
1025 Hamilton Street

Founded in 2021 by Philadelphia comedians Manny Brown and Tyler Wolf, Next In Line Comedy spotlights rising stand-up comedians in an 80-seat setting. The independent comedy club hosts performances throughout the week, ainsi que stand-up classes for those interested in getting behind the mic themselves.

Punch Line Philly
33 E. Laurel Street

One of the city’s larger comedy clubs, Punch Line Philly has welcomed nationally known performers including Ali Wong, Dave Chappelle and Chelsea Handler. The 300-seat Northern Liberties venue also hosts open mics, headliner performances and drag brunches, with a lobby bar, outdoor patio and full-service food and beverage program.

Reel October & 35th Philadelphia Film Festival

The Philadelphia Film Society celebrates 35 years of the Philadelphia Film Festival and its own 25th anniversary as an organization with Reel October, a monthlong celebration of cinema. Programming for Reel October begins Oct. 1, with two weeks of curated 35mm screenings, followed by the 35th Philadelphia Film Festival from Oct. 15-25. The event features international, U.S. and Philadelphia premieres, filmmaker Q&As, special guest appearances, red carpet events and community programming.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show celebrates its 50th anniversary with 195 artists from across the United States showcasing work in 13 craft and design categories. This year’s show also connects to America’s 250th anniversary, including Ryan Jones’ George Washington Commander Pen, created from oak harvested from a tree planted by Washington at Mount Vernon, and work by Roberto Lugo and Jody Graff featured in the Philadelphia-wide L'Amérique radicale série.

These theaters are bringing blockbuster productions and beloved classics to the stage this fall. 

Théâtre Bristol Riverside
120 Radcliffe Street, Bristol, PA 19007

A professional regional theater in historic Bristol Borough, Bristol Riverside Theatre serves as a cultural hub with a year-round mix of plays, musicals, children’s productions and special events. This fall, the theater presents Dracula : Une comédie d'épouvante, a comedic take on the classic tale, Oct. 6-25, 2026.

Act II Playhouse
56 E. Butler Avenue, Ambler, PA 19002

Act II Playhouse brings original, classic and contemporary plays, musicals and cabarets to its intimate Ambler stage, creating a close connection between audiences and performers. This fall, the theater presents La durée de vie d'un fait, Oct. 6 – Nov. 8, 2026.

Compagnie théâtrale Hedgerow

Founded in 1923, Hedgerow Theatre Company has built its legacy around storytelling and an ensemble approach that has helped develop generations of theater artists. The company presents Stephen King’s Misère, Oct. 14 – Nov. 1, 2026.

Opened in 1857, the Academy of Music is the oldest opera house in the United States still used for its original purpose and today hosts Broadway, music, dance and other performances. This fall, MAMMA MIA! runs Sept. 29 – Oct. 4, 2026, followed by Gatsby le Magnifique, Oct. 20 – Nov. 1, 2026. 

Xfinity Mobile Arena

Home to the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia 76ers, Xfinity Mobile Arena also hosts major concerts, touring productions and family entertainment throughout the year. Disney Descendants, ZOMBIES & Camp Rock brings characters and music from the popular Disney franchises to the arena on Nov. 13, 2026.

Théâtre de la rue Walnut

Founded in 1808, Walnut Street Theatre is America’s oldest theater, the Official State Theatre of Pennsylvania and a National Historic Landmark. This holiday season, the theater presents « La Reine des neiges » de Disney : la comédie musicale de Broadway, Nov. 17, 2026 – Jan. 3, 2027.

Compagnie théâtrale Arden
40, rue N. 2nd Street

Since its founding in 1988, Arden Theatre Company has become a fixture of Old City’s performing arts community, producing mainstage work alongside theater created specifically for young audiences. Arden Children’s Theatre presents Le Magicien d'Oz, Nov. 25, 2026 – Jan. 17, 2027.

Théâtre Suzanne Roberts
480 S. Broad Street

Located on the Avenue of the Arts, the Suzanne Roberts Theatre opened in 2007 and is home to the Philadelphia Theatre Company. On Dec. 4-5, 2026, the theater welcomes Le Bus magique : Perdu dans le système solaire, a family-friendly stage adventure based on the popular series.
