One of the most historic races in the nation, the Maraton Filadèlfi covers fast and mostly flat terrain, crossing the heart of Philadelphia and some of the city’s most iconic landmarks — including Independence Hall, the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Liberty Bell Center. Its origins date back to the 1920s.
The 30,000 racers taking on the marathon begin and end their journey on the tree-lined Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
The 26.2-mile course, scheduled for November 18-20, 2022, winds through the city’s historic attractions and scenic outdoor spaces, passing along the charming streets of Old City on Penn’s Landing by the Delaware River and eventually arriving near the green and leafy pathways of the Fairmount Water Works, located on the Schuylkill River.
Along the route, athletes can refuel at hydration stations and get cheered on by thousands watching the action.

While the Maraton Filadèlfi race routes are all a little bit different each year, spectators can be sure to see the runners from the Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 18th Street and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and along Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive from Spring Garden Street to Fountain Green Drive.

Warm up for the race at the Health and Fitness Expo at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Participants are required to stop by the Pennsylvania Convention Center prior to the Philadelphia Marathon to pick up their race packets.
La Health and Fitness Expo is free and open to the public. Philadelphia Marathon merchandise is available to purchase, along with other running apparel, shoes and accessories. Vendors also distribute product samples and offer tips on health and fitness. Out-of-towners can find information about popular Philadelphia attractions, restaurants and activities at the expo, too.

Public transportation is the easiest way to get to the Philadelphia Marathon, as many streets on and near the route are closed to traffic throughout the weekend.
Many Sepa train, trolley, subway and bus lines have stops near the start and finish lines, as well as peak spectator areas, and the marathon event page has information about route detours.
Visitors and locals can sign up for free text alerts from the City of Philadelphia to get weather, transit, event details and public safety updates ahead of and throughout marathon weekend.
