Independence Beer Garden (IBG) is a 20,000-square-foot outdoor retreat overlooking the Liberty Bell Center and Independence National Historical Park.
Helmed by restaurateur Michael Schulson of Philadelphia’s Schulson Collective and designed by Groundswell Design Group, responsible for the incredible Spruce Street Harbor Park, IBG is one of the most popular summer destinations in Philadelphia’s Historic District.
Wrapping 360-degrees around the Rohm & Hass Building, IBG has room for more than 300 guests with nearly half a dozen seating areas.
Steps away Liberty Bell Center and Independence National Historical Park, Independence Beer Garden invites guests to lounge in a rock garden on a large granite boulder, cozy up in a colorful Adirondack chair or chill out at a picnic table or bar seat.
More secluded seating areas, created from re-purposed shipping containers, are also available. Other notable features include lush greenery, a 15-foot projection television, ping pong and giant Jenga.
A tempting menu of casual and affordable eats includes items like cheese curds with jalapeno ranch dressing; franks in a blanket with smoked mustard; and cheesesteaks with beer cheese sauce and caramelized onions. Large groups can order platters of pulled pork sandwiches, chicken fingers and fries, pretzel bites, wings and more.
And, of course, it wouldn’t be a beer garden without cold brews. IBG operates two bars with a total of 40 taps pouring local and domestic craft beers. A variety of refreshing craft cocktails are available at the bar as well.
