Franklin Field

In operation since 1895, Franklin Field is the oldest college stadium in the U.S. and the home of University of Pennsylvania football.

Most notably, the field — with a seating capacity of 78,205 — hosts the annual international Penn Relays, the oldest organized relay competition in the U.S. Held here every April, the Relays bring together thousands of the best track and field athletes from high schools and colleges worldwide for a weekend of competitions.

For Philly sports fans, Franklin Field stands out as the former home of the Philadelphia Eagles (1958-1970) and host of the 1960 NFL Championship Game — where the Birds dealt the Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi his only career playoff loss.

The historic field also hosted some of the very first Army-Navy games between 1899 and 1935.
