Of the many, many spectacular things Philadelphia is known for, the city’s restaurant scene is usually near the top of the list. That stellar reputation has been known to attract a visitor or two to explore the city’s Michelin-honored and James Beard Award-winning culinary options.

Greater Philadelphia’s food offerings are as diverse as the city itself. From the authentic Mexican eateries in the Italian Market to the restaurant empires built by big names like Stephen Starr, Jose Garces, Michael Solomonov, Marcie Turney and Valarie Safran, Michael Schulson, and the like, Philly has a taste for, well, everything. Whether you’re looking for an experience or simply want sustenance, there’s a delicious meal waiting.

As the city’s restaurant scene constantly evolves, new openings bring variety to an already varied palate. Among the latest restaurant openings are a go-to for gluten-free baked goods, Flakely; a new power player in the pretzel game, Pretzel Day Pretzels; and a fashionable West African BYOB LynUp Cafe & Lounge.

Get a second helping of Philly awesomeness by pairing your scrumptious meal with a sumptuous hotel stay. Book the Visit Philly Overnight Package which comes with free hotel parking and complimentary tickets to some of the most popular attractions in each of Greater Philadelphia’s five counties including Universal Theme Parks: The Exhibition at The Franklin Institute, the Mercer Museum in Bucks County, Longwood Gardens in Chester County, the Brandywine Museum of Art in Delaware County and Elmwood Park Zoo in Montgomery County.

Here are some new dining destinations — all opened since December 2025 — to add to your bucket list.

Note: This list is arranged alphabetically.

New Bars & Restaurants

01

Banshee

Helmed by the guys behind gone-but-not-forgetten Japanese/Jewish crossover spots Cheu noodle bar and Bing Bing Dim Sum, Banshee has fusion cuisine in its DNA — and Ben Puchowitz and Shawn Darragh’s new South Street bistro does not disappoint.

This time around, they’re taking you on a Euro culinary adventure inspired by Spain, France and England in a warm and inviting Scandinavian-style space (but rest assured, the Japanese influences are not lost).

Take your pick from small plates, like Barnstable Oysters or Grilled Kyoto Carrot, and larger bites, like roast half chicken and Spanish mackerel. Pair it with beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks or specialty cocktails from the bar, like the vodka-forward Tropical Contact High.

Casa Oui

Oui? Oui. This brand-new all-day cafe in Queen Village offers the best of both daytime and nighttime dining, with a full breakfast-slash-brunch menu through the afternoon, and robust dinner offerings in the evening.

Bridging the French and Mexican influences of owners C.J. Cheyne and Israel Nocelo, the new spot serves breakfast sandwiches and sumptuous pastries during the day (think: doughnuts, beignets and cinnamon buns), and at night it rolls out items like steak and ceviche.

All-day eats include salads, tacos and burgers (like the bacon-, mozzarella- and secret sauce-topped Casa Oui Burger), along with a full coffee and cocktail menu.

Crust Vegan Bakery

Philly’s favorite Insta-worthy treats have made their way to East Falls. After dishing out perfectly frosted and delightfully whimsical pastries in Manayunk for the last 10 years, Crust Vegan Bakery has a brand-new, bigger home just off of Kelly Drive.

Baby-pink with white trimmings reminiscent of the very cakes found inside Crust’s pastry case, the dreamy storefront sports a couple of tables for quick chat-and-chews and a menu familiar to fans. You’ll find the same vegan goodies you love: dairy-free soft serve,  breakfast sandos, and pastries — including cheesecakes, croissants, cookies and those famous homemade poptarts. Plus, now you can grab coffee, a signature latte or tea to go with your treat.

Hearty plates of freshly made pasta, topped with savory sauces, pestos and the like, were made for wintry days like these. As if on cue, Greg Vernick — a 2026 James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Restaurateur — teams up with chef Meri Medoway for a brand-new Italian-inspired adventure called Emilia.

Their casual neighborhood restaurant boasts a bounty of small plates, like the paper-thin carta di musica; handmade pastas, like the ragù bianco rigatoni; and a handful of entrees, like the crispy veal. Like the menu, the pours — wines, amari, spritzes, Italian sodas and more — come straight from the old country.

Visit Philly staff says...

When I saw photos online of Emilia’s tortellini in brodo, I instantly made a reservation for my husband and me. The menu is packed with handmade pastas and designed for sharing, so we went all in, splitting the Roma tomatoes and crispy artichoke antipasti, plus three pastas: tortellini in brodo, rigatoni in ragu bianco and capellini in pesto genovese. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and brought me back to our travels in Italy. Next time, though, I’m ordering the pesto genovese capellini all for myself!

Flakely

Buttery, crumbly and gluten-free, Flakely’s baked goods are a universal crowd favorite for sweet tooths and pastry lovers of all stripes. Since its inception, the bakery — one of the best gluten-free bakeshops in the nation, per USA Today — has been a 100% takeout operation, satisfying diners’ cravings with frozen bake-at-home pastries exclusively.

That is, until now. Owner and pastry chef Lila Collelo — who herself has celiac disease — is trading in her Manayunk takeout window for a full-fledged Main Line brick-and-mortar, allowing Flakely fans (and fiends) to experience the bakery’s rare gluten-free croissants, decadent cupcakes and homemade Pop-Tarts in all their glory.

Piccolina

Piccolina, the latest culinary foray from Cafe Lift and Prohibition Taproom restaurateurs Michael and Jeniphur Pasquarello, marries the seafood of the 19th-century oyster bar’s former life with the pastas and pizzas of its new owners’ youth.

Not your average red-gravy Italian restaurant, the intimate corner spot features a menu of oysters on ice, housemade pastas, Neapolitan pizza and elevated Italian classics inspired by the duo’s shared South Philly upbringing. (The couple grew up only two blocks away from one another.)

Diners and drinkers can also expect an impressive Negroni menu, a solid selection of zero-proof cocktails, an all-Italian wine list and more. Piccolina is open daily for dinner, with lunch and brunch coming soon.

It’s not every day that a freshly minted Michelin-starred dynasty opens up a new place. Amanda Shulman and Alex Kemp — the couple behind nationally (and now globally) acclaimed Rittenhouse Square restaurants Her Supper Club and My Loup — take the culinary party over to Fitler Square for their next venture: Pine Street Grill.

The duo’s spin on an everyday neighborhood spot serves up American and Philly classics (chicken nuggets and soft pretzels for starters), plus a lineup of sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, heavier entrees and desserts — like the cookie skillet (a Her Place favorite). A kids’ menu — named for the chefs’ daughter — and a drink list of cocktails, beer and wines inspired by European tavern culture round out the offerings.

Visit Philly staff says...

Pine Street Grill is the perfect neighborhood spot for warming, home-y bites. Think matzah ball soup, buffalo wings, turkey club and one of my favorites: the Shrimp “Pil Pil”, an ode to the former Philly deep cut Dmitri’s that once shared the same corner. These home-away-from-home feelings are perfectly curated by the team led by Philly’s star-studded chefs, down to the nostalgic Sixers-decorated bathroom.

And the $20 late night burger-and-beer deal after 9:30 p.m. is enough of a reason to become a familiar face in Fitler Square’s new gem.

Ponder

Don’t think too hard about this one. Ponder, a new bar located in Philly’s Kensington neighborhood, is a no-reservations pub designed with the neighborhood spirit in mind.

The vibey bar is decked out with 42 seats, intimate lighting, a handful of HD TVs and eclectic furniture sourced from Philly’s own Thunderbird Salvage. The everyday menu offers a handful of snacks, creative cocktails and familiar drafts, and French and Italian wines — all at an affordable price.

Bonus: The spot showcases a rotating lineup of culinary pop ups — with eats from local businesses like the savory Sang Dumpling, the Louisiana-inspired Fishtown Cajun, the seafood-based Hatch Cover and more — and patrons can get beer and wine bottles to go.

Pretzel Day Pretzels

Philly goes hard behind our pretzels. Our penchant for the simple snack is well-known (second only to our love for a certain sandwich), so when a new player arrives on the scene, the city takes notice.

Originally a passion project for Philly native Jim Mueller, Pretzel Day Pretzels got its start as a pop-up and delivery business pushing hand-rolled, small-batch soft pretzels. Now, the fun side quest has officially graduated to a legit South Philly storefront, serving the tried-and-true Bavarian baked good, plus less-familiar German styles; pretzels stuffed with long hots and provolone, chilli, and more; and other fun takes on the local favorite.

Secondhand Ranch

Giddyap! This ain’t your granddad’s watering hole. This new Fishtown concept slings Western-themed cocktails while you hunt through racks of vintage clothes and goods.

Half saloon, half thrift shop, the Wild West spot gives a second life to all sorts of salvaged goodies, while patrons knock back frosty brews; flavor-infused shots; and cocktails like the Cowboy Mule (a Moscow Mule with whiskey, tequila or mezcal), the Spicy Saddle (a marg-like pinapple and jalapeño creation) and the Gold Rush (OK, this one’s an established cocktail).

The curated food menu is flush with comfort foods fit for a cowboy, including loaded wagyu beef (and also veggie) hot dogs, cheesesteak nachos, walking tacos, shaved ribeye grilled cheeses, and more.

While Philly may be new to Yemen’s coffee game, the Arab nation’s been at it since, well, forever as the birthplace of the caffeinated classic as we know it. Shibam Coffee in University City is the latest cafe to bring Yemeni-style coffee — marked by its rustic flavor and natural sweetness — to the City of Brotherly Love.

Sporting later-than-most hours and a sophisticated, minimalist design, the spot is perfect for morning meetings, late-night hangs and everything in between. What’s behind that shiny, new set of navy doors where Bistrot La Minette used to be? That, our foodie friends, would be Side Eye, Queen Village’s newest French-ish restaurant.

You could say that owner Hank Allingham and executive chef Finn Connors have big, fancy, Frenchy shoes to fill — but that’s not the goal. Instead, the duo has their side eyes set on building Philly’s next great neighborhood restaurant for beer and a bite.

Its menu of “Philly French” cuisine features housemade breads, pastries, pastas, desserts and French-inspired entrees — like the beef tartare or the green peppercorn brioche burger topped with Camembert — plus cocktails, drafts and wine.

The Grape

Big news: The Grape is back, baby!

Many a Philly music lover has fond memories of hitting up jam nights and downing late-night drafts at The Grape Room, the popular dive and indie music venue just off Manayunk’s Main Street. Now, after abruptly closing in 2024, the Northwest Philly institution embarks on a new era with a new name (bye-bye, “Room”), featuring more open mic nights, more stand-up comedy and more of the indie music you love.

The two-floor venue offers beer on tap and by the bottle — on both floors — along with a selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic beer. Note that the spot doesn’t serve food (yet), but the opening of its kitchen is on the horizon, with upcoming menu items including chicken fingers and other pub grub.
