Sun’s out, plants out: The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s Pop Up Gardens have once again taken up their warm-weather residencies on South Street and in Manayunk.

Open to adults, kids and furry friends, the pop-up gardens offer summery drinks — including popular specialty drinks like the “Woodermelon” cocktail or the “Gritty Marg” — as well as craft beer from local and regional brewers. Pay-as-you-go food is also available (hot tip: get the sidewinder fries), all in a verdant garden atmosphere.

Visit Philly staff says...

As soon as the weather warms up, the PHS Pop Up Garden at South Street is my go-to spot.

The location is awesome — right on South Street with easy access to the Broad Street Line and Center City — making it the perfect first stop on a night out.

It’s also a great gathering place for large friend groups. There’s tons of space, large picnic tables, super-fast service (even though it might be packed), and an impressive menu full of vegetarian and vegan options for folks with dietary restrictions, like me.

And don’t miss the Woodermelon cocktail. I get one every time I go.

Outdoor market season is back, and this beloved Philly culinary treasure has returned to the heart of South Philly’s FDR Park.

A nationally renowned seasonal market, the Southeast Asian Market pops up every weekend (save for during Eagles home games and occasional special events), showcasing some of the best Lao, Khmer, Thai, Vietnamese and Indonesian cuisine in the city.

Last year’s market saw over 70 vendors offering traditional dishes, authentic street food and culturally specific produce, plus plants, jewelry and clothing. For the best experience, pack a picnic blanket and don’t forget to bring cash — some vendors are cash-only, and there’s no ATM on site.
