The TIME100 list of The 100 Most Influential People of 2025 was released on Wednesday — and two Philly powerhouses made the list: chef Chutatip “Nok” Suntaranon and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Each year, the list highlights trailblazers across industries and communities who are pushing the world forward.
Previously crowned Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic by the James Beard Foundation in 2023, chef Nok was recognized by Time magazine for her vibrant, authentic Thai cuisine at Fishtown’s beloved Kalaya.

She was included in the Innovators category alongside big names like rapper Snoop Dogg, comedian Nikki Glaser and artist Mickalene Thomas.
In his tribute, fellow James Beard Award-winning Philly chef Mike Solomonov praised Nok’s heartfelt approach to both cooking and life, describing her dishes as “vibrant, personal, and full of flavor” and her restaurant as “something truly special.”
Also honored? Philadelphia Eagles superstar Jalen Hurts, named to the Icons category.
Fresh off the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs, Hurts is widely respected as one of the NFL’s top quarterbacks. He’s known for his quiet confidence, laser focus and steady leadership — both on and off the field.
In his Time write-up, fellow sports legend Derek Jeter praised Hurts for his resilience and determination, noting he’s always ready to tackle the next challenge.
From the kitchen to the field, Philly’s been making headlines and racking up accolades all year long.
In 2025 alone, the city was named one of the top 10 U.S. cities for food & drink by Food & Wine, Philly’s Citizens Bank Park was voted the best MLB stadium by USA Today, and Longwood Gardens claimed a spot on Time’s list of the 100 greatest places in the world. Plus, Philly landed four restaurant and chef nominees for the 2025 James Beard Awards.
Add in the Eagles’ Super Bowl Championship, it’s safe to say: Philly’s on top.
It’s Philly’s biggest year yet!
