Delco is having a moment.
Delaware County — the setting for the buzzy new HBO series, Mare of Easttown, starring Kate Winslet — is also home to Wawa, Greater Philadelphia’s beloved hoagie chain/convenience store/gas station.
Wawa is featured prominently in the series and the company has fully embraced the on-screen love. The proof? June 10 is officially Mare of Easttown Day, marked with the release of a limited-edition cheesesteak available only at Delco’s 42 Wawa locations.

The new sandwich is served on a Shorti roll with beefsteak, cheddar cheese sauce and spicy cherry pepper relish (cue the “what’s allowed on a cheesesteak” debate) and it’s timed with the opening of the county’s newest Wawa location at 418 West Baltimore Pike in Upper Darby.
Citing the TV show’s commitment to raising awareness for mental health issues, Wawa is also making a $10,000 contribution to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, whose Healthy Kids, Healthy Minds program integrates behavioral health providers with primary care teams.
A Philly sandwich inspired by a show that’s inspired by Philly and helps give back? Total win (even with peppers).
Don’t snooze on this one — the Mare of Easttown spicy cheesesteak is only available through Thursday, June 17.
The Visit Philly Overnight Package — booked more than 190,000 times since 2001 — comes with free hotel parking (worth up to $100 in Center City Philadelphia) and overnight hotel accommodations.
