Overview

Opera Philadelphia, the city’s only producer of grand-scale opera, is committed to embracing innovation and developing opera for the 21st century that propels the genre forward.

A Professional Company Member of OPERA America with support provided by the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, the company brings some of the industry’s well-known and up-and-coming singers, composers, directors and conductors to the City of Brotherly Love for engaging productions of both traditional and new repertoire.

Performance offerings include large-scale works at the historic Academy of Music, intimate chamber operas in the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and community performances, which focus on creative partnerships and enhanced accessibility.

The company’s season kicks off each year with an opera festival featuring performances and events at venues like the Academy of Music, the Perelman Theater, the Theatre of Living Arts and more.

Opera Philadephia works to propel the genre forward with innovative, ambitious programming.

This year’s festival — dubbed O18 — runs for 11 days (September 20-30, 2018) and includes two world premieres, two new productions and a three-part cabaret event.
