Contactless delivery just leveled up. Now, you can get Chickie’s & Pete’s Crabfries delivered to your gate by a robot at Philadelphia International Airport. In the mood for fried chicken from Bud & Marilyn’s or a juicy Geno’s cheesesteak? Those are on the delivery menu, too.

Now through April, the airport is testing gita, an Italian robot that brings food to busy, weary travelers.

Here’s how it works: gita (pronounced jee-tah) can carry up to 40 pounds and deliver goods by following one of Philadelphia International Airport’s AtYourGate team members to its destination. The robot can run for more than four hours on a single charge ensuring prompt delivery through the OrderatPHL service.

The Bluetooth bots follow human delivery people at a distance and mimic their actions while learning how to navigate pedestrian-dense spaces like airport terminals, malls and city sidewalks. Passengers can get ready-to-eat meals and snacks with just a few taps on the OrderatPHL website or the Grab app.

This is a major upgrade for busy travelers and a fast development for the airport, which introduced food delivery in October. Passengers can charge up, check their flight status and mind their luggage without having to track down their favorite grub, making for an easy, contactless experience.

Visit OrderatPHL.com or download the Grab app on your mobile device for food delivery within the airport.
