From waterfront concerts to pop-up performances in parks, Philadelphia lives up to its title as “The Original Music City,” hosting a blockbuster slate of free summer concerts all across the city.
This June and July, local parks, churches, landmarks and more serve as the backdrop to unforgettable performances by local artists and major stars — and it won’t cost you a single penny.
Look no further than Philly’s Independence season festivities: Wawa Welcome America, the city’s free, multi-week Independence Day fest featuring loads of shows, and the One Philly Unity Concert for America, Philly’s massive July Fourth concert drawing big names — think Christina Aguilera and Jill Scott — and even bigger crowds to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
And there’s no shortage of other solo showcases, like University City Summer Series; full-on festivals, like Lancaster Avenue Jazz & Arts Festival; kid-centric lineups, like Kidchella at Smith Memorial Park; and all-ages fetes, like the Juneteenth Block Party at the African American Museum in Philadelphia. All you have to do is follow the music.
Pro-tip: Many of this summer’s outdoor shows are BYO-blanket-and-chair, and food trucks are often on deck with pay-what-you-wish fare.

Wawa Welcome America’s not the only party in town. The One Philly Unity Concert for America follows up this year’s festivities with some of music’s biggest names during a free show on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
Sponsored by Wawa and hosted separately by the City of Philadelphia, the concert features live musical performances by Christina Aguilera, Jill Scott, Jordan Davis, The Roots, Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kathy Sledge, State Property, Seal and many more — with the show emceed by comedy legend Wanda Sykes and a big fireworks display at the end. Whew!

Celebrate “audacious freedom” and Black culture at this vibrant Juneteenth festival outside of the African American Museum in Philadelphia, as Visit Philadelphia (hey, that’s us!) partners with Wawa Welcome America for this year’s celebration.
Philly’s favorite spinner, DJ Jazzy Jeff, brings the summer, summer, summertime vibes, headlining this year’s fest alongside hip-hop icons Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh and Leah Jenea.
The free event also features live performances from local artists, like the Marian Anderson Choir, plus family-friendly activities, opportunities to shop and support Black-owned businesses, and plenty of local food to enjoy.

This isn’t the first time Philadelphia has hosted a major birthday bash for the nation. Way back in 1876, the city hosted an event so spectacular, we’re still talking about it 100 years later.
Philly’s Centennial District — the site of the historic Centennial Exhibition — honors the spirit of that 1876 event with a brand-new, family-friendly celebration that unfolds across three festive days.
Enjoy live performances by Philly music stars Gerald Veasley and Carol Riddick (Saturday, June 20, 2026) and Pink Sweat$ (Sunday, June 21, 2026), among other local performers.
Also on deck: interactive exhibits and activities curated by Philly cultural institutions, like the Philadelphia Zoo, food trucks and fireworks.

Tambourines, ready! Philly pays tribute to Black music and culture at this free, open-air concert and festival curated by Philly music icon Dyana Williams and headlined by Grammy Award-winning entertainers Eve and Mýa.

This free outdoor bash at Smith Memorial Playground delivers big fun to pint-sized music lovers. Family-friendly acts, like Dendê Macêdo and The Bearded Ladies Cabaret, take the stage as little ones (and their grown-ups!) enjoy tasty treats, interactive art stations, wellness and relaxation activities, great giveaways, and more.
The night comes to a close with a kid-approved fireworks display. Registration for the free show is required.

One of the largest celebrations of Latino arts and culture in Philadelphia, Concilio’s Hispanic Fiesta brings music, dance, food and flair to the heart of Philadelphia.
Returning to LOVE Park this year, this year’s festival is headlined by “La Reina del Merengue,” Grammy Award-winning and Latin Grammy Award-winning Puerto Rican singer Olga Tañón.
The annual family-friendly festival also features additional live entertainment by Latino artists, interactive exhibits highlighting Latino culture and traditions, a kids’ zone, and food from Latino-owned businesses.

What better way to celebrate the season than with picturesque views and a little yacht rock? This free high-energy concert featuring Tommy Conwell & The Young Rumblers promises a crowd-pleasing show capped off by a 9:30 p.m. fireworks display over the Delaware River.

Join the U.S. Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus in the shadow of Independence Hall as the group lifts up active soldiers and veterans in song.

It’s not a party without the Philly Pops. After performing under the moniker the “No Name Pops” since 2023, this beloved near-50-year-old Philadelphia tradition returns to its roots to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday.
The orchestra, known for playing everything from Broadway to Beethoven, takes the stage alongside multi-platinum-selling singer/songwriter and Tony Award-winning performer Idina Menzel for a gravity-defying performance.

Philly’s epic FIFA World Cup celebration finally kicks off 39 days of fútbol fun at Lemon Hill with a live stream of the tournament’s first matches across the festival’s ginormous screens, plus live music, entertainment, family-friendly activities, and pay-as-you-go food and drinks from local vendors.
Dubbed “Soccer Coachella,” the free fest’s opening day culminates with a headlining performance by award-winning Puerto Rican pop star Luis Fonsi, the voice behind megahits like Despacito and Échame La Culpa. Registration is required.

What started in 1975 with a $100 grant has transformed into one of the largest African American street festivals in North America. The annual (and free!) ODUNDE Festival returns for its 51st year, filling 16 South Philly blocks with thousands of attendees, over 100 marketplace vendors, authentic African, Caribbean and soul food, and more.
Festivalgoers can also expect loads of live entertainment across two stages, including a special headlining performance by legendary R&B trio Bell Biv Devoe.

There’s music in the air in University City as a series of three free concerts at neighborhood greenspace and community hotspot The Lawn at uCity Square.
Join the sea of picnic blankets and lawn chairs for funk-rock, house and R&B performances. On the lineup: the ever-so-funky, always electric Johnny Showcase, Worldtown Soundsystem Collective’s eight-piece band playing dance music, and soulful Philly staple Lady Alma and her band. Looking for a low-key way to celebrate Independence Day in Philadelphia with festive fireworks? Check out Freedom Fest 2026 along the Delaware River waterfront in Northeast Philadelphia.
Expect two stages of live music, plus food trucks, vendors, a Ferris wheel and tons of fun for kids, including carnival games and bounce houses. Then, spread out in Pleasant Hill Park’s waterfront green to enjoy a stellar fireworks show over the river, starting around 9 p.m. The festival is free and open to all with no registration required.

Just off the main drag in West Powelton, the Lancaster Avenue Jazz & Arts Festival at Saunders Park Greene draws thousands of revelers each year to celebrate jazz music in all its flavors.
This year, the free festival honors the legacy and music of John Coltrane, the legendary artist who once called Philly home, with an afternoon and evening of performances. The family-friendly event typically also features pay-as-you-go shopping with local vendors and tasty food truck eats.

One thing that has continued to ring true for 250 years and counting: The people who call Philly home are what make the city so vibrant, innovative and historic. Celebrate the Roxborough neighborhood this July at the Jazzing on Ridge Festival, part of the city’s Ring It On! program — a citywide event series popping up throughout the city.
The free event — now in its sixth year — features live, local music as well as fun activations and giveaways, children’s activities and plenty of food to nosh on.

Celebrate two monumental milestones — the Semiquincentennial and the 150th anniversary of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church — at this jubilant, free concert. Now located in Mt. Airy, Enon was the first African American Baptist church to open in the city’s Germantown neighborhood, way back in 1876.
Enjoy the sounds of more than 300 voices from the Enon Tabernacle Mass Choir celebrating that history as they fill the church’s East location with joyful music. The concert remains free to all, but guests must register ahead of time.

After spending months immersing themselves in the Museum of the American Revolution’s exhibitions, artifacts and programming, the Philly-based artists translate the stories of America’s fight for independence into a series of original compositions for modern times, as part of the new interdisciplinary art festival ArtPhilly: What Now.

In 2005, public radio station WXPN — Philly’s home for rock, blues, indie and folk music — cemented its place in music history with its brand-new live, weekly concert series.
Over 20 years, 1,000 performances, 295,000 concertgoers and millions of listeners later, the weekly tradition lives on, ruling the midday airwaves with live performances from rising stars, local legends and the biggest names in music.
Everyone from Willie Nelson to Adele has graced its stage, and you can experience the show for yourself, live and in person, at World Stage (formerly World Cafe Live) every Friday afternoon at — you guessed it — noon. Tickets are free, but registration is required.

Bust out your picnic blankets and lawn chairs. With the picturesque waters of Edgewood Lake and the lush as its backdrop, FDR Park’s iconic Boathouse transforms into a stage during this summertime concert series.
Celebrating its fifth season, Not Just Jazz — as the name implies — brings live music and performances of all genres, from country to afro-jazz, and a rotating lineup of food trucks to the South Philly park. (There’s even a traditional African dance group in the mix!) The show is free to attend, but snacks are pay as you go.
