Octobers in Philadelphia are jam-packed with Halloween happenings, fall festivals, interesting exhibitions, plays, concerts and more.
And Indigenous Peoples Day weekend — October 11 to 14, 2024 — brings the rare three-day-weekend, a golden opportunity to take full advantage of everything the city and region has going on, and the perfect moment to pay homage to the original peoples of Pennsylvania (the Lenape nation) and Indigenous peoples across the Americas.
To celebrate, Bartram’s Garden’s Philadelphia Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration returns for its 14th year with traditional dancers, musicians, and activities for the entire family. In Fishtown, the eighth annual Indigenous Peoples Day Philly event brings together Indigenous folks from across the country, Mexico and South America at Shackamaxon (aka Penn Treaty Park) to celebrate their history, heritage and culture.
This year, Indigenous Peoples Day Weekend coincides with National Coming Out Day (NCOD), and the OURfest Parade and Festival (the first NCOD event of its kind) returns to Old City and the Gayborhood.
And, of course, spooky season is officially in full swing. You can celebrate by hitting up a haunted house (Eastern State Penitentiary) or a harvest festival (Pumpkinland at Linvilla Orchards).
There are many more ways to complete your long-weekend itinerary. Read on for the top things to do for Indigenous Peoples Day weekend in Philadelphia for 2024.

The best part: General admission tickets include a free first liter of beer.

Philly doesn’t revel in Pride just in June. Each October since 1990, the city has held an annual National Coming Out Day celebration event (formerly known as OutFest). The fun continues with a festival block party in the Gayborhood featuring live performances, speeches, craft and apparel vendors, fair food, and scores of organizations offering health and wellness resources and promoting LGBTQ+ visibility.
