For a taste of all the world cultures that make Philadelphia such a diverse and interesting city, there’s no need to go overseas — just head over to Penn’s Landing for its Serie multicultural de PECO, a succession of outdoor festivals that celebrate cultural traditions from across the globe.
The PECO Energy Multicultural Festival season runs on weekends from June to September.
Visitors and locals can experience some of the many cultures that thrive in the vibrant communities of Philadelphia this summer with PECO Multicultural Series’ free festivals:
Philadelphia Irish Festival
Celebrate all of Ireland’s cultural gems, from music to dancing to food. Enjoy performances from notable Irish musicians, famous dance schools, bagpipers, and of course, traditional foods like shepherd’s pie and bangers and mash. Browse the outdoor shops for authentic and traditional Irish goods.
Fiesta hispana de Concilio
The Hispanic Fiesta at Penn’s Landing is one of Philadelphia’s premier Latino events, drawing upwards of 15,000 people each day. The festival continues to unite and raise awareness of Latino culture and community through the celebration of music, dance, entertainment, ethnic foods and artisan crafts from nearly all Latin American countries.
Islamic Heritage Festival
The Islamic Heritage Festival and Parade begins with the Unity in Diversity Parade at 5th and Market streets and winds through the city to the end point at Penn’s Landing. Following the parade, the annual Islamic Heritage Festival commences, featuring family-friendly games, speakers, a health and wellness fair, free giveaways, entertainment and a global open market bazaar.
ACANA Festival
The African Cultural Alliance of North America Inc. (ACANA) is proud to host the African Festival, an outdoor concert experience that brings artists, groups, and dance troupes from around the African continent to perform. The festival provides a wide range of African entertainment, from traditional dance performances to modern Afropop and Reggae musical performances. This free event also brings delicious African food vendors, as well as traditional and modern clothing, and arts-and-crafts vendors.
Festival de la India
The annual Festival of India hosted by the Council of Indian Organizations (CIO) of Greater Philadelphia celebrates India’s Independence Day while highlighting the vibrant Indian American community. The free festival is a colorful panorama of art, music, dance, and cuisine.
Festival del Caribe
Guests can celebrate the culture, music and food of the Caribbean islands during the annual Caribbean Festival at Penn’s Landing. Benefiting college students of Caribbean descent, past festival activities have featured a children’s corner, a marketplace and music from across the islands.
The Blue Corn Lifestyle: Green & Organic Fest
The Blue Corn Lifestyle: Green & Organic Fest promotes living a sustainable lifestyle. It combines old Mexican indigenous traditions and modern-day Mexican farmer culture, centered around corn.
Brazilian Day Festival
Brazilian Day Philadelphia celebrates Brazilian Independence Day and shares the wonderful culture and traditions of Brazil. Vendors offer an abundant variety of authentic traditional foods and merchandise, and performers light up the stage with the contagious rhythms and dances of Brazil. The festival features a unique blend of Brazilian culture and showcases Samba, Forro, Pagode, Capoeira, Samba-Reggae and more.
Fiesta de la Independencia de México
Guests can celebrate Mexican Independence with music, food, dancing, and more. Browse traditional arts and crafts, dance with Mexican rock bands and enjoy face painting and giveaways during the popular event at Penn’s Landing.
