Art Star at the Independence Visitor Center
Art Star, Philadelphia’s beloved gallery and boutique, showcases a curated selection of limited-edition goods, gifts and souvenirs handmade by local artists and crafters.
Recognized by Philadelphia Magazine as “the city’s first cutting-edge craft shop” and now exclusively operating at the Independence Visitor Center, Art Star brings innovative and superbly crafted goods to the heart of Old City.
An imaginative array of art prints, screen-printed T-shirts, Philly-inspired souvenirs, pottery, handmade jewelry, greeting cards, baby items and more grace the shop’s shelves and walls.
The woman-owned business supports a growing network of artists, providing opportunities for exposure and connection through its retail location and seasonal markets, most notably its long-running Art Star Craft Bazaars.
In addition to the Art Star retail store, co-owners Erin Waxman and Megan Brewster host seasonal pop-up markets and craft bazaars at the Independence Visitor Center and across the city.
Local makers are invited to set up shop at Independence Visitors Center for its Holiday Procrastinator’s Market, the go-to place to find the perfect holiday gift; Crap Bazaar, a quirky, discounted sale of slightly imperfect but lovable crafts; and Juneteenth Market, highlighting Black makers and small businesses. — Photo courtesy of Art Star at the Independence Visitor Center

The shop — and its community of crafters — pops up across the city, hosting events like its Spring Art Star Craft Bazaar on Mother’s Day weekend at Cherry Street Pier and Holiday Art Star Craft Bazaar the weekend before Thanksgiving at Rivers Casino.
During the warmer months, keep an eye out for Art Star Pop Up Markets at large Philly events and festivals like the 2nd Street Festival in Northern Liberties and Midtown Village Fall Festival.
