Did you know the largest National Coming Out Day event takes place right here in Philadelphia? That’s right! Taking over the Gayborhood neighborhood of Philadelphia in Midtown Village, Outfest celebrates Philadelphia’s LGBT history and LGBT community.
The block party — spanning a dozen full blocks — consists of drag shows, games, bar crawls, music and shopping.
A main stage hosts live entertainment of all sort all day long, bringing entertainment that in the past has spanned from high-heel races to belly dance shows to award ceremonies.
Throughout the festival grounds, a number of outdoor bars and dance parties continue the spirit of the event all throughout the Gayborhood.
OutFest brings a huge, all-afternoon festival to the heart of the Gayborhood.
As the biggest LGBT event in Philly, OutFest brings a full lineup of festival action, spanning approximately 12 square blocks of the Philadelphia “Gayborhood.”
Most of the happenings go down along 12th and 13th streets between Walnut and Spruce streets. The main stage is located at 13th and Locust streets.
The free block party (with pay-as-you-go drinks and food) starts at noon and closes at 6 p.m. but the fun continues as outdoor bars and dance parties carry on the spirit of the event all throughout the Gayborhood
More than 150 vendor booths across the festival grounds bring the chance for festival-goers to do some shopping and grab goody bags from local LGBT nonprofits.
Food and drink stations, entertainment areas and designated activity zones are also scattered throughout the fest. Attendees should bring their dancing shoes and get ready to party, as DJs will keep the music bumping all afternoon long.
In addition to a ton of shopping and outdoor drinking opportunities, OutFest also hosts an array of scheduled entertainment. Look forward to drag shows, high heel races, hula hoop performances, award ceremonies and more.
An array of ongoing activities will also unfold throughout the block party, which in previous years included chances to get soaked in a dunk tank, test your skills at darts and ride a mechanical bull.
Throughout the Gayborhood on side streets like Quince, you’ll also find tucked-away vendors and bars hosting celebratory events.
