Essential Info

One of three counties established by William Penn in 1682, Chester acted as a western route from Philadelphia to the surrounding areas.

Today, Lancaster Avenue (U.S. Route 30) echoes that path, and is a main thoroughfare on which many of the county’s towns and attractions lie. Its reputation as a getaway from city life and a destination unto itself remains.

Getting Here

SEPTA buses and trains run to parts of Chester County, but its suburban layout is best explored by car.
