It’s time to get the ball rolling on your New Year plans (and we’re not talking about resolutions).

From kid-approved celebrations to late-night dance parties to the all-important fireworks display (two, actually), Philadelphia pulls out all of the stops to celebrate the arrival of 2026.

The littlest revelers and their families ring in New Year’s Eve (NYE) together (and still be home before bedtime) with celebrations at Cherry Street Pier, Sesame Place and the Please Touch Museum.

For those looking for more grown-up fun with a side of fireworks, toast to the new year aboard the Spirit of Philadelphia during City Cruises’ New Year’s Eve Signature Dinner Cruise or at the glamorous ”Celebrity Style” New Year’s Eve Fireworks Gala at the Pyramid Club.

The celebrations continue on New Year’s Day with the Mummers Parade — a can’t-miss Philly tradition that draws thousands of costumed marchers to Broad Street each year.

Make it a New Year’s Eve to remember by booking the Visit Philly Overnight Package, which includes free hotel parking (valued at up to $100), to level up your stay in the City of Brotherly Love.

Read on for our full guide to New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day 2025/2026, then get ready to kick off a year-long celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

Note: Events in each section are arranged chronologically by start time.

Chester County’s horticultural haven rings in 2026 with an evening of back-to-back musical performances among its lush gardens, fantastic fountain shows and spectacular light displays.

Guests can enjoy two live performances (5 and 7:30 p.m.) on the attraction’s signature Longwood Organ, as well as live performances from the Galena Brass band, Olde Towne Carolers and Polkadelphia.

Plus, the 2025 edition of A Longwood Christmas is still glimmering and glowing with gemstones and gilding along with horticultural fetes of poinsettias, wreaths and trees.

Midnight in the Square & Mushroom Drop in Kennett Square

Wednesday, December 31, 2025 | 7 p.m. – midnight

The cute town of Kennett Square, with its specialty shops and farm-to-table dining, doubles as both a charming travel destination and the mushroom capital of the world, producing about 60% of the country’s mushrooms.

Fittingly, the small town celebrates the start of every new year with music, entertainment and its annual midnight Mushroom Drop, where a giant, illuminated ʼshroom (instead of a ball) is hoisted 80 feet into the air and descends just in time for the clock to strike midnight.

Live music and entertainment, including a laser show, start at 7 p.m. Admission is a non-perishable food item.

Where: Union Street & State Street, Kennett Square, PA

Mum’s the word! Start the year off with one of Philly’s most famous traditions, when more than 10,000 costumed marchers — many of whom practice all year for this one-day celebration — strut their stuff on the streets of Philadelphia in a sea of sequins, feathers, face paint and umbrellas.

The perfectly Philly parade celebrating 125 years of revelry (!) kicks off at City Hall before heading down Broad Street to Washington Avenue in South Philly. Show up a little early to snag your favorite viewing spot along the route, or reserve a ticket for bleacher seating.

Where: Parade begins at Philadelphia City Hall, 1400 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA
