Along the way, enjoy live entertainment, fun photo ops, interactive activities, and pay-as-you-go eats and drinks.

What’s new and exciting at LumiNature?

Le Philadelphia Zoo’s annual immersive light display ups the wonder-factor this year, introducing several new highlights for 2026.

1. Explore brand-new displays and a playful new adventure

You’re the main character in this instant-classic holiday tale, brought to life by 14 larger-than-life scenes set throughout the zoo, featuring light displays, seasonal sounds, interactive surprises and a cast of your favorite zoo residents.

Just like us all, the lions, tigers and bears of the zoo have penned holiday wish lists for jolly, ol’ Santa “Claws” (more on him later) and sent them off to the North Pole.

Using your very own Book of Wishes — a keepsake filled with clues — uncover the animals’ wishes while exploring LumiNature’s festive new displays, plus returning favorites.

New for 2026, keep an eye out for:

  • massive letters sprinkled across the grounds that reveal the animals’ holiday wishes — starting at the new North Pole Post Office display;
  • a tropical escape featuring a vibrant 20-foot-tall banana tree (that’s taller than a giraffe!) surrounded by glowing vines and rambunctious primates;
  • a winter, woodland wonderland inspired by the zoo’s Andean and sloth bears and punctuated by their colorful paw prints;
  • et plus encore !

Plus, classics like the glowing 40-foot-tall penguin and the brilliant pink flamingo tree return, and once again, guests can bring or purchase a Zoo Key to unlock fun surprises across five interactive locales: Flutter Flair, Impala Fountain, Monkey Business, Flamingo Fancy and The Enchanted Forest.

2. Enjoy live entertainment on select evenings

Local performers — including choirs, singers, musicians, dancers and theater groups — make their LumiNature debut with 30-minute pop-up performances on select nights during the fest’s run.

Keep an eye on the official website for performer announcements and updates.

3. Sip, stroll, repeat with the new adults-only cocktail walk

If the glow of 1 million-plus holiday lights isn’t enough to warm your heart, the LumiNature Cocktail Walk is pouring cup after cup of Yuletide cheer.

Follow the self-guided, 21-and-over trail through the displays, warming up with spirited cocktails along the way. Separate tickets are required, and they include six tastings and access to the LumiNature displays (December 5, 2026).

Plus, the fest serves up new and returning seasonal snacks, like candy cane-shaped pretzels, s’mores kits, hot chocolates and apple ciders, and create-your-own popcorn buckets.

4. Meet zoo animals in the KidZooU interactive play area

In the past, most of the zoo’s residents headed indoors before LumiNature opened, so animal sightings were rare — but not this year!

Every half-hour between 5 and 7 p.m., zoo animals make surprise appearances for meet and greets, wildlife chats, and more in KidZooU, a family-focused zone for interactive fun.

5. Meet the mammal of the hour: Santa Claws

You better not cry. You better not pout. Why? Because Santa Claws is coming to town.

This lovable snow-white lion character (not a real lion but don’t tell the kids!) is at the heart of the LumiNature story, reading letters and granting wishes. You can meet Santa Claws for yourself at his cozy, evergreen-filled lodge.

Le personnel de Visit Philly dit...

The holiday season is basically my family’s Super Bowl. The lights, the music, the traditions — we look forward to it tout, all year long. And LumiNature is definitely a tradition-worthy Philly experience.

The whimsical displays naturally put the “festive” in festival, but, unlike a lot of seasonal attractions, the experience focuses less on any one holiday and more on celebrating our vibrant and diverse planet. Interactive performers, music and treats only add to the fest-like fun.

Is LumiNature just for kids, or is it fun for adults, too?

Whether you’re looking for a romantic date night, a holiday get-together with your besties or a festive family field trip, there is a ton of fun to be had at LumiNature — regardless of age.

For the 21-and-over crowd, the new LumiNature Cocktail Walk is great (December 5, 2026), but grown-ups can find timeless light displays, festive entertainment and grown-up-only bevvies every night of the fest.
