Ja! Philadelphia is een belangrijke tourstop voor veel artiesten en heeft bovendien een indrukwekkende lokale scene. Er is bijna elke avond een live muziekshow.

Van A-list rappers zoals Meek Mill tot indie-lievelingen zoals Hop Along, veel geweldige artiesten noemen Philly hun thuis. (Zie: The Roots, Pink, McCoy Tyner, Santigold, Cayetana, Jill Scott, Christian McBride en The War on Drugs, enz.) Lokaal talent is zeer loyaal aan de stad en treedt vaak op voor lokale fans.

Dat hangt ervan af aan wie je het vraagt. In de jaren zestig en zeventig had de stad zijn eigen genre, de Sound of Philadelphia (vaak TSOP genoemd) — een weelderige en funky vorm van soul. In de decennia daarna hebben R&B-, hiphop- en indierockacts veel lof geoogst.

Maak je keuze! Je ziet de volgende grote sterren in Union Transfer en Johnny Brenda's. The Fillmore en Franklin Music Hall zijn uitstekende middelgrote podia, en in arena's zoals Xfinity Mobile Arena vind je de legendes.

Reken maar. De Roots picknick en XPoNential Muziekfestival zijn allebei favorieten van de fans.
