But the lead-up to the big game — aka All-Star Week — is full of can’t-miss fun, and baseball HQ is the Capital One All-Star Village in het Pennsylvania Convention Center.  

This week is your last chance to visit the multi-day festival where baseball fans can meet their favorite players, register for autograph signings, savor authentic ballpark food, and test their skills in pitching and batting contests.

• Pop-punk favorites The All-American Rejects hit the stage Monday at 7 p.m.,
• Iconic DJ Deadmau5 puts on a free show Thursday at 7 p.m.,
• Dance-pop sensation Bebe Rexha performs a free concert on Friday at 7 p.m., and
• The jumbotrons show the highly anticipated World Cup Final on Sunday at 3 p.m.

The first interracial baseball game in the United States happened on September 3, 1869 on a historic field in Noord-Philadelphia. Dig deeper into that story and many more during A League Apart, a new exhibition at the African American Museum in Philadelphia.

Focusing on the importance of breaking barriers in a sport once reserved only for white players, visitors can hear never-before-told stories from the players that lived them, including Octavius Catto, Dick Allen, Mo’ne Davis, Henry Lloyd and Ed Bolden, as well as the enduring legacy of the Philadelphia Negro Leagues.

Burrito Feliz, owned by Puebla native Miguel Nolasco, is setting down brick-and-mortar roots in University City.

They are also partnering with South Philly’s Brewery ARS to offer canned beers and margaritas in a casual new taco spot. Look for your Vuistdikke steak handhelds — salsa is a must! — and plenty of non-meat options like their in-demand Tofu “Chorizo” and Fajita Veggie.

The Stories of US Discovery Center allows visitors to freely search through centuries-old records to uncover hidden family lineages in this 250th anniversary legacy project, in collaboration with Ancestry.com, at the National Constitution Center.

By combing through family documents and personal storytelling, this nationwide project seeks to find out how our ancestors helped shape today’s United States. Further, the City of Philadelphia and Ancestry.com plan to digitize 20 million historical records and images, from birth certificates to marriage licenses, over the next two years.

Bank on this! Citizens Bank is teaming up with the Philadelphia Museum of Art voor free admission on Monday in celebration of the museum’s Een natie van kunstenaars tentoonstelling.

Bastille Day at the Museum of the American Revolution turns the second-floor atrium into a war zone where a full-size replica of the 1781 Siege of Yorktown — the death knell for the British during the Revolutionary War — pays tribute to our allies from France. 

In Louis Charles-Auguste Couder’s famous oil painting, Generals Comte de Rochambeau, George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette celebrate American independence on the Virginia battlefield that spawned freedom. 

Programming includes pop-up talks from museum educators and other facts about the alliance between France and the United States.

Legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan brings his trademark warble to the Highmark Mann Center for the Performing Arts, delivering the poetic lyricism of his new-ish album Rough and Rowdy Ways, interspersed with a few classic acoustic ballads and stuff you’ve likely never heard him sing before. 

Joining the Complete Unknown on stage are Jimmie Vaughan (older brother of late-great guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan) and The Tilt-A-Whirl Band, a Texas blues ensemble, as well as Britney Spencer, a rising country star clad in denim and rhinestones.

De MLB All-Star Game transforms Citizens Bank Park into a vibeworthy planetarium, bursting with baseball’s biggest stars ready to launch moonshots into the South Philly air. This is the game’s showcase moment … happening in the Birthplace of America!

Six hometown stars — Bryce Harper, Jesús Luzardo, Cristopher Sánchez, Jhoan Duran, Brandon Marsh, Kyle Schwarber — have been selected to the 96th Midsummer Classic. Yacht ROX Beach Party sails into Roxborough Pocket Park like a jib-jarring Christopher Cross song stuck on repeat. Karen “Magic Fingaz” Smith brings her rhythmic drum experience to this outdoor green space on Ridge Avenue, alongside beachy treats (think: fruit-packed water ice), cocktails and mocktails, a pop-up bookstore, craft beer from New Ridge Brewing Company and family-friendly lawn games.

Glen Foerd’s 3rd Thursday series rolls out its second summer date on Thursday night, inviting visitors to relax on this historic riverside estate and public park overlooking the Delaware River in Northeast Philly. 

Grab a tasty bite from Clean Plate Food Truck — focused on seasonal produce and molecular gastronomy — and live jazz from Drew Nugent and the Midnight Society. 

The main house, built in 1850, is open for free, self-guided tours throughout the evening, with a $10 suggested donation encouraged.

You Stretched Diagonally Across It at The Fabric Workshop & Museum spins an old-world hobby into a new-school art form through the transcendent work of 25 talented tapestry artists. Borrowing its name from a metaphor used by Franz Kafka in a letter to his father, this exhibition leverages tapestry as an inflection point for unresolved inquiries into the human condition. It seeks to answer deep questions like, “what is the relationship between surfaces and structures?” 

Mexico City-based creator Su Wu serves as guest curator, with works on display from London-based mixed media artist Caroline Achaintre, as well as Franco-Moroccan multimedia artist Yto Barrada, Los Angeles-based weaver Diedrick Brackens, Arizona-based artist Melissa Cody of Navajo Nation, plus many more.

Rico Rico Fiesta converts the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks into a celebration worthy of a Super Bowl halftime show during this three-day party dedicated to Latin culture. Taller Puertorriqueño’s yearlong reflection on the nation’s 250th anniversary continues this week with the opening of Tramando: Collective Making, Continued Traditions. 

Launched in 2023, textile artist Richie López’s project focuses on Kensington’s rich textile history and heritage. Over the last two years, master artists, culture bearers, and everyday Philadelphians have come together to learn, share and sustain traditional textile practices, like natural dyeing, fiber spinning and Mayan backstrap weaving. Now, viewers get the opportunity to see stunning finished pieces. 

Welcome to the wonderful world of wicked gluten-free eating. 

This traveling expo features over a hundred exhibitors serving up delicious, wheat-less products, plus other vegan and allergen-free options. A stacked lineup of some of the city’s top DJs, performers and more hit the stage throughout the day, and this year’s vendor marketplace is filled with Black-owned businesses. 

Tickets are required, local art is on display and pay-as-you-go food is available.

When we said America’s 250th birthday was a full-year celebration, we meant it. The party moves to Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack for the Philly Foodie & Fireworks Festival. 

Break out the stretchy pants: Over 100 of Philly’s favorite food trucks and eateries dish out hometown staples, savory street eats, sweet treats and more — all priced at $10 or less, with wallet-friendly $5 specials available at every vendor. 

In between bites, dance the calories off to live music and DJs or sip away at a pop-up beer garden. The night comes to an explosive close with a dazzling fireworks display.

Lions and tigers and … beers, oh my! Take a sip on the wild side at the annual Philadelphia Zoo Summer Ale Festival.

 This 21-and-up event features live music and entertainment, food trucks and over 100 award-winning seasonal craft beers, ciders, spirits and non-alcoholic sips to enjoy while you explore the zoo at night. This year, featured vendors include returning favorites like Victory Brewing Company and Bru Daddy’s Brewing Co. and festival newcomers like Dock Street Brewery and Ironbound Cider.

Northwest Philly’s most verdant hidden gem celebrates the opening of the exhibition this weekend with scavenger hunts, fun facts and family fun.

Explore that story with this special exhibition tour led by Jeremy Johnson, Cultural Education Director of the Delaware Tribe of Indians (Friday).

• July Garden Tour at PHS Meadowbrook Farm: Go on a garden adventure with the horticultural experts at PHS Meadowbrook Farm, now in bloom for the summer. Explore the living tapestry of plants, flowers and fountains of the Montgomery County garden, and get all of your gardening questions answered while you stroll the grounds and estate. While general admission to the garden is free, tickets are required for the tour (Saturday).

Voor de Shakers - een religieuze gemeenschap die ontstond in het 18e-eeuwse Engeland en bloeide in de Verenigde Staten - strekten hun sterke overtuigingen over gemeenschap, arbeid en gelijkheid zich uit tot elk facet van het leven, inclusief hun meubels, architectuur en alledaagse goederen. 

Een combinatie van historische, door Shakers gemaakte kunstvoorwerpen, rechtstreeks uit de Testament van Ann Lee met hedendaagse kunstwerken geïnspireerd door de gemeenschap, deze nieuwe tentoonstelling bij de Instituut voor Hedendaagse Kunst onderzoekt hoe de groep een onderscheidende visuele taal heeft ontwikkeld die wordt gekenmerkt door eenvoud, innovatie en doelgerichtheid.

Het werk van Ruth E. Carter, tweevoudig Academy Award-winnares voor kostuumontwerp, staat centraal in de African American Museum in Philadelphia’De nieuwste tentoonstelling van, Afrofuturisme in kostuumontwerp, waarin wordt onderzocht hoe Carters handgetekende kostuumontwerpen hebben bijgedragen aan het definiëren van iconische filmpersonages.

De modulaire tentoonstelling — met interactieve elementen — toont bekroonde kostuums en artefacten uit Carters gewaardeerde carrière, waaronder een zeldzame blik op de persoonlijke schetsen en kostuums van de artiest uit Carters privécollectie.

Carter - ook bekend als de meest genomineerde zwarte vrouw in de Oscargeschiedenis - won Oscars voor haar kostuumontwerpen voor de Black Panther films en is de eerste zwarte vrouw die meerdere Academy Awards in welke categorie dan ook heeft gewonnen.

Je hoeft de stad niet uit om te genieten van een Universal themaparkervaring. Deze wereldpremière tentoonstelling, aangeboden door The Franklin Institute en Universal Destinations & Experiences biedt een kijkje achter de schermen bij de innovatie en wereldopbouw die in elk Universal-pretpark plaatsvindt.

Met een oppervlakte van 18.000 vierkante meter en acht overweldigende galerijen toont de interactieve ervaring meer dan 100 voertuigen, rekwisieten en andere originele artefacten van wereldberoemde attracties, attracties en liveshows. En zoals het Franklin Institute betaamt, heeft de tentoonstelling een educatieve focus, waarbij alle technologie, techniek en kunstzinnigheid die komen kijken bij het ontwerpen van pretparken wordt uitgelicht.

Je weet dat de warme dagen nu voorgoed zijn aangebroken. Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Zomerfestival komt tot leven. 

De lente- en zomerversie van deze locatie aan de rivier biedt een carnavalachtige sfeer met een enorme rolschaatsbaan, attracties, een promenade en arcadespellen, minigolf, eet- en drinkgelegenheden en evenementen gedurende het hele seizoen.

De toegang tot deze gezinsvriendelijke bestemming is gratis en open voor het publiek. Minigolf, spelletjes, attracties en concessies worden per gebruik betaald. ​

De hele late lente en zomer, Longwood Gardens’glorieuze fonteinen komen tot leven over de Kennettplein campus tijdens het jaarlijkse evenement van de attractie Festival van de fonteinen.

Dagelijks Optredens in de tuin van de hoofdfontein beginnen om 11.15 uur en lopen de hele dag door om de twee uur, met fonteinen met 1.719 stralen die wel 15 meter hoog worden. In het Openluchttheater kun je vanaf 10.15 uur elke twee uur een bonusvoorstelling van 5 minuten bijwonen.

Weekendavonden brengen oogverblindende kleurschakeringen bij de spectaculaire Verlichte fonteinvoorstellingen ingesteld op een roterende lijst van muzikale selecties.

Het is het grootste jaar tot nu toe voor Philly en hotels in de hele stad vieren de 250e verjaardag van Amerika met een toast op de geboorteplaats.

Meer dan 30 hotels schudden de boel op tijdens Philly's viering van het tweehonderdjarig bestaan als onderdeel van Geest van 76: De cocktailroute van Philadelphia.

Deze plekken serveren de hele lente en zomer heerlijke geschiedenis in de vorm van innovatieve cocktails en mocktails geïnspireerd op de centrale rol van Philadelphia in de oprichting van de natie.

Reserveer een hangmat en een waterfiets: Dienen als Waterkant van de Delaware-rivier oase sinds 2014, Havenpark Spruce Street is open voor het seizoen 2026 met een schat aan lekkers, waaronder een promenade met concessies, veel ruimte om te chillen (denk: Adirondackstoelen en platbodemlounges boven de rivier, en een knallende wekelijkse line-up evenementen. Bovendien zorgen Chiliboats Adventures en een nieuwe vloot Swan Boats voor veel waterplezier. 

Zodra de zon ondergaat, licht het park op met honderden veelkleurige LED's die tussen het bladerdak van de bomen hangen. Het seizoensgebonden park aan het water is gratis en open voor het publiek tot de herfst, met bepaalde activiteiten die je kunt betalen.

Terug in 2026, de geliefde biertuin van Philly, Parken op tap, biertjes en hapjes in stadsparken en groene ruimtes in heel Philadelphia, waarbij elke week een andere wijk in de schijnwerpers staat. 

Verwacht blikjes en bieren van Mainstay Independent Brewing, Conshohocken Brewing, Dogfish Head en meer, evenals drinkbare seizoenscocktails en hapjes variërend van cheeseburgers en pulled pork sandwiches tot frambozen cheesecake cups en Lunchables voor volwassenen (!). 

De bestemming van deze week: McMichael Park in Oostelijke watervallen.

A nationaal bekende seizoensmarktde Zuidoost-Aziatische markt verschijnt elk weekend (met uitzondering van speciale evenementen) en biedt een aantal van de beste Laotiaanse, Khmer, Thaise, Vietnamese en Indonesische gerechten in de stad.

This year’s market sees over 70 vendors offering traditional dishes, authentic street food and culturally specific produce, plus plants, jewelry and clothing. Don’t know where to start? De reis van de Verklaring De tentoonstelling volgt de geschiedenis van het oprichtingsverdrag van Amerika en de voortdurende invloed ervan, dat wereldwijd meer dan 100 onafhankelijkheidsbewegingen heeft geïnspireerd.

De erfenis van de Verklaring wordt onderzocht aan de hand van documenten, kunstwerken en artefacten, waaronder de stoel van Thomas Jefferson, een door markies de Lafayette geannoteerd ontwerp van de Franse Verklaring van Rechten, de gevangenisbank waar Martin Luther King Jr. “Brief uit een gevangenis in Birmingham, een spinnewiel geschonken door Gandhi en nog veel meer.

In 1803 gaf president Thomas Jefferson Meriwether Lewis en William Clark de opdracht om de westelijke gebieden van het land te verkennen na de Louisiana Purchase. Maar wist je dat Philadelphia's Academie voor Natuurwetenschappen bewaart bijna alle originele dagboeken van de ontdekkingsreizigers en bewaard gebleven specimens met betrekking tot hun botanisch onderzoek in zijn Lewis & Clark Herbarium?

Het nieuwe museum Plantkunde van naties De tentoonstelling onderzoekt die rijke collectie opnieuw door een inheemse bril, waarbij botanie (de studie van planten) wordt gecombineerd met etnobotanie (de studie van hoe mensen planten gebruiken) om de manier waarop we de koloniale reis interpreteren een nieuwe vorm te geven.

Met hun eigen roemrijke geschiedenis, de Philadelphia Museum of Art en de Pennsylvania Academie voor Schone Kunsten (de allereerste kunstschool en het allereerste museum van het land) verdiepen zich in de rijkdom en diversiteit van de Amerikaanse kunstgeschiedenis voor deze blockbuster tentoonstelling, getimed om samen te vallen met de Vijfhonderdjarig jubileum.

De collectie, die 300 jaar Amerikaanse kunst samenbrengt en stukken bevat uit de ongelooflijke persoonlijke collectie van Phillies-eigenaar John Middleton en zijn vrouw Leigh, bevat meer dan 1000 portretten, beeldhouwwerken, meubels, foto's en meer in beide musea. Kijkers vinden enkele van de grootste namen uit de kunstwereld - waaronder Mary Cassatt en Charles Willson Peale - zij aan zij tentoongesteld met vaak over het hoofd geziene zwarte, inheemse, immigranten en historisch ondervertegenwoordigde kunstenaars en hedendaagse talenten.
