In Philadelphia, Turkey Day is cause for celebration, one that begins early with the annual Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade. The event — the oldest parade of its kind in the nation — brings together cheerful balloons, colorful floats and celebrity performances, drawing a crowd each year to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Many of Philadelphia’s fantastic restaurants also offer delicious Thanksgiving dinners to help folks avoid the stress of cooking and cleaning for the holiday.

And Thanksgiving also means the official start of the holidays, with a number of the season’s fabulous holiday traditions – including the Macy’s Christmas Light Show, The Comcast Holiday Spectacular and Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest — kicking off either on or around Thanksgiving.
