For just one final week, the Academy of Music transforms into Belle Époque Paris as the lavishly outfitted dancers at the Philadelphia Ballet present the classic romantic comedy The Merry Widow.
Choreographed by the esteemed Ronald Hynd and set to Franz Lehár’s score arranged by John Lanchbery, the story centers on the escapades of wealthy widow Hanna, as she pirouettes her way through glamorous balls on a mission to find a new husband amid lost love and political shenanigans.

Break out the steel drum and become part of the world of mermaids for one last week of Adventure Aquarium’s most magical aquatic event.

While Philly may be new to Yemen’s coffee game, the Arab nation’s been at it since, well, forever as the birthplace of the caffeinated classic as we know it. Shibam Coffee in University City is the latest cafe to bring Yemeni-style coffee — marked by its rustic flavor and natural sweetness — to the City of Brotherly Love.
Sporting later-than-most hours and a sophisticated, minimalist design, the spot is perfect for morning meetings, late-night hangs and everything in between. With only a month of play left in the regular season, the Philadelphia Flyers’ playoff push kicks into high gear with three high-octane home-ice tilts this week.
First up, cheer on the black-and-orange (and grab a free green camper hat) when the fly guys go up against heated rivals, the New York Rangers (Monday). Then, strap in for an exciting matchup against the Washington Capitals (Wednesday).
Later in the week, Dunder Mifflin Paper Company takes over Xfinity Mobile Arena during the Flyers’ game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. InLiquid’s flagship gallery inside the historic Crane Arts Building in Kensington becomes the epicenter of a two-week-long celebration of unadulterated creativity and fresh, contemporary visual art.
Hosted by the local nonprofit organization, the March for Art features immersive experiences, an exhibition showcasing over 200 local artists, and plenty of opportunities for Philly creators, collectors and supporters to connect.
This week’s highlights include UNITE, a special edition of Crane Arts’ free monthly open gallery evening (Thursday), and DESIGN, a free and open-to-the-public designer trunk show (Saturday). The fun continues next week at BASH, an evening of food, drinks and art (Friday, March 20, 2026).

When the littles are away, the grown-ups come out to play at Montco’s Legoland Discovery Center.

52 Weeks of Firsts honors 250 years of Philly pioneering by celebrating the city’s many historic achievements — every Saturday, all throughout 2026. Featured Philadelphia “firsts” include inventions like the Slinky, cultural milestones such as Mother’s Day and significant locations like the first African Methodist Episcopal church.
The free celebrations take place at the original location of each first (or in spaces that represent where these significant milestones occurred) and include guest speakers, a sculpture, monthly marquee events and historic deep dives by Once Upon a Nation.
This Saturday, don’t miss the celebration of the first women’s medical college in America (1850) at the Drexel University Health Sciences Building.

Calling all the brainiacs: A totally “irrational celebration of the brain” is taking over Philly’s premier science museum, The Franklin Institute. Conshohocken gets the full green-and-white treatment when its annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade takes to the streets.
Themed “Irish Hands Building America” for the nation’s Semiquincentennial, the annual tradition marks its 20th year with vibrant floats, traditional Irish dance and live musical performances. Themed specials and events are hosted at restaurants and pubs along the parade’s Fayette Street route during and after the celebration.
Bonus: The day’s festivities officially kick off at 12:30 p.m. with the Conshohocken St. Paddy’s Day 5K Classic, a scenic race along Fayette Street before the parade.

Unfolding across not one but two Philly museums — Woodmere and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts — this powerful exhibition explores how artists’ work asserted the complexities of the human experience, tackling gender, sexuality, relationships and more; cultivated compassion; and imagined a better world.

Ministry of Awe (MoA) — the highly anticipated art space that has transformed an abandoned 19th-century bank in Old City into an immersive, 6-story work of art — opens its doors to the public this week.
The building-wide work of art celebrates “human-ness” with installations, interactive sculptures, immersive soundscapes, live performances and murals. Global artist and creative mind behind the transformative art experience, Meg Saligman, collaborated with more than 100 artists to create the massive work.

As the country’s second-largest Irish heritage city, Philly knows a thing or two about how to put on a top-notch St. Patrick’s Day parade.
The annual Philadelphia St. Patrick’s Day Parade returns, this year down Market Street, with green fanfare, marching bands, dance troops and epic revelry. This year’s theme — 250 Years of Irish Contributions to America — tips a hat to the Semiquincentennial.
The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. at 16th Street & John F. Kennedy Boulevard, heads east around City Hall to Market Street, and continues east until the parade ends at 5th Street.

Visitors to the National Constitution Center can now experience the highly anticipated America’s Founding gallery, offering high-tech snapshots of Revolutionary America in dramatic detail.
The new permanent gallery tells the story of how early Americans fought for independence, created the U.S. Constitution, drafted the Bill of Rights and ultimately laid the groundwork for our democracy. Visitors can explore immersive corridors, interact with tactile installations, watch engaging videos and view real-life artifacts.
In addition to other artifacts, the new space includes an original copy (!) of the U.S. Constitution — one of only 14 surviving — on display throughout 2026, along with rare first printings of 17 constitutional amendments.

Two-time Academy Award-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter’s work takes center stage at the African American Museum in Philadelphia’s latest exhibit, Afrofuturism in Costume Design, which explores how Carter’s hand-drawn costume images helped define iconic film characters.
The modular exhibition — which features interactive elements — showcases award-winning costumes and artifacts from Carter’s esteemed career, including a rare glimpse of the artist’s personal sketches and costumes from Carter’s private collection.
Carter — aka the most nominated Black woman in Oscar history — won Oscars for her costume designs for the Black Panther films and is the first Black woman to win multiple Academy Awards in any category.

The horticultural minds at Longwood Gardens prove winter means more than sleeping trees during the annual Winter Wonder exhibit.

Then, head indoors and bask in the warmth of the beautiful new West Conservatory, where Cape primroses, Japanese camellias and more fill up the space in bursts of color, while hundreds of bright orchids are in full bloom.

Seeking to “represent the people around [him],” Noah Davis spent his career capturing the intricacies and beauty of everyday Black life in Los Angeles.
Though he was known for his visually interesting — often dreamlike — paintings exploring politics, race, mythology and more, Davis’ practice included photography-collecting, experimental sculpture-work, collage- and website-making, and, eventually, the opening of his own museum.
This landmark retrospective pays homage to the full breadth of the acclaimed artist’s life and work. After stops in LA, Germany and England, the incredible collection of over 60 pieces comes to the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The tiniest creatures come alive in Eric Carle’s iconic children’s books, like The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The illustrations of these Small Living Things take center stage at the Michener Art Museum’s latest exhibit, showcasing the author-illustrator’s art.
Opening on Valentine’s Day, the exhibit at the Doylestown museum features original art from beloved Carle titles like: The Very Quiet Cricket, The Very Busy Spider and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? Visitors also have the opportunity to see Carle’s early sketches along with a peek into the artist’s process.

For the Shakers — a religious community that originated in 18th-century England and flourished in the United States — their strong beliefs around community, labor and equality extended to every facet of life, including their furniture, architecture and everyday goods.
Pairing historical Shaker-made artifacts straight out of the Testament of Ann Lee with contemporary artworks inspired by the community, this new exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art explores how the group developed a distinctive visual language marked by simplicity, innovation and purpose.

Spanning 18,000 square feet and eight immersive galleries, the interactive experience showcases more than 100 vehicles, props and other original artifacts from world-famous rides, attractions and live shows. And, in true Franklin Institute form, the display has an educational focus, playing up all the technology, engineering and artistry involved in theme park design.

“When in the course of human events …” The document from which that seminal phrase originates is the centerpiece of the Museum of the American Revolution’s 2026 programming. The Declaration’s Journey exhibition traces the history of America’s founding charter and its continuing influence, inspiring over 100 independence movements worldwide.
The Declaration’s legacy is explored through records, art and artifacts, including Thomas Jefferson’s chair, a Marquis de Lafayette-annotated draft of the French Declaration of Rights, the prison bench where Martin Luther King Jr. penned “Letter from a Birmingham Jail,” a spinning wheel presented by Gandhi and more.
