Overview

Illuminating a stretch of Spring Garden Street with the neon lighting from its first incarnation as a diner, Silk City has quickly become one of Philadelphia’s most popular destinations since reopening in 2007.

Silk City can be described as a diner/restaurant/bar/beer garden/nightclub hybrid — the kind where you can get beer (or mojitos) and a burger, then spend the rest of the night dancing to your favorite guilty pleasure tracks from the ’90s.

The Experience

Silk City serves a mix of typical diner food and more elevated dishes. It’s a great destination for dinner even if you have no interest in dancing afterward.

Dinner menu items include a turkey BLT,  grilled cheese sandwich, pork belly empanadas and kabayaki-glazed salmon.

Huevos rancheros, mushroom and truffled parmesan omelets, and chicken fried steak and eggs are just a few highlights from the restaurant’s creative brunch menu.

The hip spot also offers a variety of specialty cocktails, wine and beer.

Dance parties and events take place several nights each week, attracting crowds in search of upbeat music and a lively dance floor.
