Outdoor dining season — oh, how we’ve missed thee.

With no shortage of “here today, gone by winter” restaurants and bars, the question in Philly isn’t, “Do you prefer indoor seating or out?” It’s “How can you make the most of Philly’s alfresco-friendly dining scene?”

The short answer: Hit up one of Philly’s stand-out outdoor spots.

From palatial Parisian escapes (Rodin Garden Bar) to Miami-inspired nights out (El Techo), toasts at the top of the world (Zonsondergang Social) to brews at an on-the-move, open-air taproom (Parken op tap), this is where you should go for a singular dining and drinking experience.

Make the most of outdoor-dining-and-drinking season in Philadelphia with our list of Philly’s most interesting seasonal restaurants and bars to check out in 2026.

April through Sunday, November 1, 2026

When the warmer months roll around, the rooftop of South Philly’s Bok Building turns into a spacious beer garden met een prachtig uitzicht op de skyline.

The seasonal watering hole serves a variety of drinks — with an ever-changing menu of tasty bites — and hosts plenty of events and performances. Bonus: Just across the rooftop, Bok Bar’s more formal counterpart, Irwin's, serves up Sicilian flavors and vino with a view.

Vibe: A bustling, hip South Philly rooftop with skyline views.

Mis het niet: A rotating lineup of eats from top Philly restaurants, like Puyero and Tabachoy

La Chinesca

Het hele jaar door geopend

Throw it back to another era at this old-school Jiffy Lube gas station reimagined as a retro-chic Mexicali cantina with a killer patio.

Grab a seat under one of the pastel-washed patio’s umbrellas for lunch or hit the joint around dinner time for a funky, neon-lit vibe a la Vet (y’know, if the T-Birds and Pink Ladies traded in their burgers and milkshakes for pork belly bao buns and agua frescas).

You can expect a menu of Mexican staples mixed with Chinese-American influences — especially fitting given La Chinesca’s proximity to Philly’s Chinatown — plus artisanal cocktails, Mexican and local craft beers, wines, and more.

Vibe: Fun, retro-chic.

Good for: Dinner or drinks before a show at next-door Union Transfer.

Waar: La Chinesca, 1036 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA

Rooftop tacos and tequila in Centrum? That’s the stuff dreams — and luxurious Miami nights —  are made of. Add in the smattering of downtown skyscrapers peering overhead, and you’ve got yourself the whole package at El Techo, Condesa’s expansive 11th-floor taqueria.

Best of all, you can get your fill of rooftop dining all year long (and in all types of weather) thanks to a retractable glass roof.

Vibe: Luxe Miami feels — minus the plane ride

Know before you go: El Techo is first-come, first-served from Mondays through Saturdays, but Resys are available — and a smart move — for Sunday brunch.

Frankie's zomerclub

May 1 through September 2026

One of Philly’s best-kept secrets, Frankie's zomerclub is back on Broad Street for its second year.

Tucked away behind a 1970s-esque gateway, this university courtyard-turned-wine garden harnesses all the creativity of its former life (the courtyard of the University of the Arts’ Furness Hall) into a vibrant garden space.

The shady summer pop up features winding paths, eye-catching decor and a menu of food and drinks curated by Michael Ferreri, the executive chef at Irwin’s.

Know before you go: You have to have a membership to enter, but it’s super easy to snag one. It’s 100% free, and you can either sign up at the door or in advance online.

Mis het niet: The signature soft-serve from Irwin’s.

Waar: Frankie's Summer Club, 355 South 15th Street, Philadelphia, PA

Aangekondigd als het grootste restaurant van de stad, Vrijheidspunt heeft genoeg ruimte voor meer dan 1.000 mensen op drie binnen- en buitenverdiepingen.

Serving casual bar fare — burgers, salads, BLTs and cheesesteaks — and an array of beer, wine and cocktails, the massive waterfront establishment is also a go-to for dancing, live music and exciting DJs — all of which is perfectly complemented by views of the river and other Waterkant van de Delaware-rivier attracties.

Pro tip: Want to keep the party going? Head down to 21-and-over Morgan's Pier for more fun.

Vibe: A popping waterfront hotspot for you and 999 of your closest friends.

Lucky Duck

Het hele jaar door geopend

Quack *checks notes* quack. Lucky Duck — a brand-spankin’-new bar and restaurant along the Delaware River — is much more than the sum of its parts.

The second brainchild of Libertee Grounds owners, this tavern-style American bistro takes full advantage of its prime riverside location, with an outdoor patio putting the river right at your (metaphorical) fingertips.

Enjoy all the pub fare you can stomach (crispy pizzas, Cooper Sharp burgers, salads) and a number of surprise entrees, like duck bolognese and oysters with mango mignonette, against the sweet, sweet backdrop of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

Good for: Sweeping waterfront views that make you go “Wow.”

Know before you go: The waterfront bar is first-come, first-served at the moment, with traditional patio table service on the way.

De uitgebreide collectie van meesterbeeldhouwer Auguste Rodin - het grootste aantal van zijn werk buiten Parijs - is niet het enige wat de Rodin Museum has going for it. The elegant Beaux-Arts-style building is surrounded by lush foliage and flourishing plants — the perfect place for a relaxing drink after a long week.

Every Friday evening, the garden transforms into one of the prettiest happy hour spots in the city, welcoming everyone from date-night couples to families to pets (on leashes) with live music, summery cocktails and light bites.

Good for: End-of-week happy hours and date nights.

Sips with a view are back on the menu at one of Philly’s top rooftop destinations.

On the entertainment front, look out for lawn games and a full lineup of weekly events, including outdoor movie screenings, Phillies watch parties and DJ dance parties.

Good for: High-altitude hangs with friends.

Mis het niet: A robust line-up of weekly programming, including movie nights and Phillies games on a 60-foot-tall screen.

Suraya

Het hele jaar door geopend

A 12,000-square-foot restaurant, bar, market and café, Fishtown’s Suraya is less “eating spot” and more “Middle East dining complex,” and nowhere do those vibes shine brighter than in its gorgeous garden courtyard.

Enjoy the flavors of the Levant — Türkiye, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Israel, Iraq and particularly Lebanon — within a walled-off leafy oasis. Meanwhile, the voices of classical Arab artists mix with the sounds of nature as you indulge in man’oushe flatbreads, heaping plates of hummus and more.

Mis het niet: Dessert! Middle Eastern-inflected French pastries and sweets won pastry chef James Matty a 2019 James Beard Award nomination.

Vibe: A lush Levantine garden oasis
