Outdoor dining season — oh, how we’ve missed thee.

With no shortage of “here today, gone by winter” restaurants and bars, the question in Philly isn’t, “Do you prefer indoor seating or out?” It’s “How can you make the most of Philly’s alfresco-friendly dining scene?”

The short answer: Hit up one of Philly’s stand-out outdoor spots.

From palatial Parisian escapes (Bar du jardin Rodin) to Miami-inspired nights out (El Techo), toasts at the top of the world (Sunset Social) to brews at an on-the-move, open-air taproom (Parcs en liberté), this is where you should go for a singular dining and drinking experience.

Make the most of outdoor-dining-and-drinking season in Philadelphia with our list of Philly’s most interesting seasonal restaurants and bars to check out in 2026.

April through Sunday, November 1, 2026

Lorsque les mois les plus chauds arrivent, le toit de l'hôtel de l'Union européenne devient un lieu de rencontre. South Philly’s Bok Building turns into a spacious beer garden avec une vue imprenable sur les toits de la ville.

The seasonal watering hole serves a variety of drinks — with an ever-changing menu of tasty bites — and hosts plenty of events and performances. Bonus: Just across the rooftop, Bok Bar’s more formal counterpart, Irwin's, serves up Sicilian flavors and vino with a view.

Vibe: A bustling, hip South Philly rooftop with skyline views.

À ne pas manquer : A rotating lineup of eats from top Philly restaurants, like Puyero and Tabachoy

La Chinesca

Ouvert toute l'année

Throw it back to another era at this old-school Jiffy Lube gas station reimagined as a retro-chic Mexicali cantina with a killer patio.

Grab a seat under one of the pastel-washed patio’s umbrellas for lunch or hit the joint around dinner time for a funky, neon-lit vibe a la Graisse (y’know, if the T-Birds and Pink Ladies traded in their burgers and milkshakes for pork belly bao buns and agua frescas).

You can expect a menu of Mexican staples mixed with Chinese-American influences — especially fitting given La Chinesca’s proximity to Philly’s Chinatown — plus artisanal cocktails, Mexican and local craft beers, wines, and more.

Vibe: Fun, retro-chic.

Good for: Dinner or drinks before a show at next-door Union Transfer.

Rooftop tacos and tequila in Centre ville? That’s the stuff dreams — and luxurious Miami nights —  are made of. Add in the smattering of downtown skyscrapers peering overhead, and you’ve got yourself the whole package at El Techo, Condesa’s expansive 11th-floor taqueria.

Best of all, you can get your fill of rooftop dining all year long (and in all types of weather) thanks to a retractable glass roof.

Vibe: Luxe Miami feels — minus the plane ride

Know before you go: El Techo is first-come, first-served from Mondays through Saturdays, but Resys are available — and a smart move — for Sunday brunch.

The shady summer pop up features winding paths, eye-catching decor and a menu of food and drinks curated by Michael Ferreri, the executive chef at Irwin’s.

Know before you go: You have to have a membership to enter, but it’s super easy to snag one. It’s 100% free, and you can either sign up at the door or in advance online.

À ne pas manquer : The signature soft-serve from Irwin’s.
