Philadelphia does festive food and drink right. The proof: The holidays often mean lines out the doors of the city’s beloved mom-and-pop purveyors to stock up on holiday food must-haves.
For decades, Philadelphia’s proudly diverse population has represented a variety of home-cooked holiday food traditions and each year, residents and visitors fill their bellies with Polish kielbasa from Czerw’s, Italian cannoli from Termini Bros., tamales from Mole Poblano and German clear toy candies from Shane Confectionery.
Other traditional eats include butter pound cake, sweet pryaniki and endless cheese plates.
The flavors might be familiar, but the holidays in Greater Philadelphia still look a bit different for 2021. Philadelphia requires masks or proof of vaccination at all indoor public places. Many shops have online ordering options again this year for pick-up and delivery. Your best bet: Plan ahead. Look online or call to get a better sense of what to expect. Read more here.
