Sweater weather has arrived, and this week’s list of things to do in Philadelphia hits the gas on autumn adventures.
Things get surreal when the highly anticipated Dreamworld: Surrealism at 100 debuts at the Philadelphia Art Museum (opens Saturday).
Can’t get enough art? Don’t miss the 49th Annual Contemporary Craft Show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (Friday through Sunday) or the start of the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival throughout Philly (begins Thursday).
Food truck season never ends with the return of the Fall Food Truck Frenzy at Linvilla Orchards (Saturday) and Made On American Street in Olde Kensington (Saturday).
And the city keeps up its monthly traditions like Demo Days at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum (Saturday) and First Friday events all around the city (Friday).
Plus, Philly honors those who served with plenty of early Veterans Day events, including the big Philadelphia Veterans Day Parade & Festival on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway (Sunday).
Below, find the best things to do in Philadelphia this week and weekend, November 3 to 9, 2025.
Through Saturday, November 8, 2025
You’ve only got one more week to experience one of America’s largest haunted houses as Eastern State Penitentiary closes the coffin lid on Halloween Nights.
During the annual fall festival, the legendary facility (which once housed infamous criminals from Willie Sutton to Al Capone) plays host to about a dozen different attractions, ranging from pure terror behind its walls to spooky storytimes around a campfire.
Along with prison tours and multiple haunted houses, this year features a bone-chilling lineup of brand-new attractions, including Dark Tides — an abandoned fishing village-style haunted house — and the high-octane Apocalypse Pass. Also, look forward to new characters, expanded food offerings, enhanced sets and a redesigned layout. Tickets are required.
It’d only been a couple of years since I last checked out Halloween Nights, so I was pretty sure I knew what to expect. (Spoiler: I did not.)
The new act-based layout makes the experience feel like an amusement park, and it offers some truly fun surprises. Highlights for me include wading through a foggy swamp illusion, crossing a disorienting bridge that twists and turns, and the vampire-themed variety show at the Bloodline Lounge — with “blood” cocktails.
If you’re like me and need every last drop of spooky season goodness, Halloween Nights is the perfect treat (or trick).
Where: Eastern State Penitentiary, 2027 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia, PA
Open for the season through Saturday, November 8, 2025 (Wednesday through Saturday)
Get a final glimpse of Chanticleer, Wayne’s gorgeous 35-acre pleasure garden, for the season this weekend.
Home to more than 5,000 plants spread across several beautiful gardens — we’re talking ever-changing perennial displays, bountiful veggie gardens, interesting ruins and more — Chanticleer is a top destination for green thumbs and those looking to add a little extra beauty to their lives.
After an incredible year of blooms, the top-rated contemporary garden readies itself for a well-deserved winter hibernation, but not before closing out the growing season strong with one last weekend of botanic bliss, open-air picnics, and educational tours of the house and garden.
Where: Chanticleer, 786 Church Road, Wayne, PA
Opens Thursday, November 6, 2025
Philly is officially making “fetch” happen. Atlanta’s Fetch Park is landing in the City of Brotherly Love, offering pups plenty of leash-free fun — and a bar and cafe for the humans.
The concept — taking over the old Bark Social spot on Main Street in Manayunk — offers craft cocktails, local brews, Southern fare, pub grub (a la pizza and burgers), and other surprises like boozy cereal and a retro diner-themed doggy ice cream parlor. Watching the game on one of the outdoor TVs? Fetch Park’s “woof wardens” are around to keep an eye on your pup.
The 55-seat indoor-outdoor dog bar is also expected to add more features over time, like chic art and lighting, live music events, and a few video game stations.
Where: Fetch Park Manayunk, 3270 Main Street, Philadelphia, PA
