Hispanic Heritage Month in Philly: 20+ Events & Fests for 2026

Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens showcases the work of Puebla, Mexico artist Ivette Chaires, recipient of the Julia Zagar Residency for Women Artists. The residency aims to support women folk artists from Mexico and South America, inviting them to stay in Philadelphia and create art for a solo exhibition. 

As a multidisciplinary artist, Chaires meshes traditional Mexican folk art traditions with contemporary images for the exhibition, featuring a collection of cartonería (papier-mâché sculptures) inspired by the annual Día de Muertos holiday.

Depuis près de 30 ans, le Festival Fringe de Philadelphie has been a platform to showcase cutting-edge performance artists. Hispanic Heritage Month welcomes several performing arts experiences from new-gen storytellers:

• Amor/Libertad – Part 1: Puerto Rican native artist Joel De Jesus-Pacheco presents a theatrical performance centered on the theme of Puerto Rican independence (September 8-16, 2026).
• Agos y Viento: Mother-daughter duo Anito Gavino and Malaya Ulan create a dance-and-spoken word performance focused on colonial connections between Filipinos and Latinos (September 11-12, 2026).
• Que la liberté retentisse: Paul Ramírez Jonas invites visitors to complete the last note of My Country ‘Tis of Thee par ringing a 600-pound bell at Cherry Street Pier (September 11-27, 2026).

Le festival, qui en est désormais à sa 42e édition, Feria del Barrio est l'un des plus grands festivals d'art et de culture latino-américains de la région métropolitaine de Philadelphie. Cette fête annuelle se déroule au cœur de North Philly, El Centro de Oro (“ le Golden Block ”), qui abrite une communauté latino-américaine très dynamique. 

The free festival celebrates Latino culture and heritage through delicious cuisine, live music and dance performances, arts and craft vendors, community resources, and family-friendly activities.

Taking place at the Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest, this free Fête de l'indépendance du Mexique est un événement annuel très divertissant qui propose de l'artisanat mexicain traditionnel, de la musique et des danses authentiques, des activités pour les enfants, des camions de nourriture et bien plus encore.

Traditionally, the highlight of the day is the El Grito ceremony conducted by the Consul of Mexico in Philadelphia, commemorating the beginning of the Mexican Independence movement.

Les Bibliothèque libre de Philadelphie’s more than 50 neighborhood libraries across the city offer a plethora of events celebrating Mois du patrimoine hispanique, including themed storytimes, hands-on arts and crafts, dancing, and more. 

Head to Parkway Central Library to make handmade golden tortillas (September 16, 2026), to dance and enjoy some ritmos on the rooftop (September 16, 2026), or to learn how to paint using Peruvian art techniques (September 24, 2026).

Enjoy an afternoon devoted to Latin sabor at the annual Sazón Latin Food Festival at Two Locals Brewing in University City. Come hungry to the fiesta to enjoy all the flavors of Caribbean, Central and South American cuisine (including dessert!).

Savor summer’s waning days at the family-friendly outdoor festival featuring live music, tasty bites and refreshing sips.

Enjoy cool early autumn air and meet fellow salsa and bachata lovers at FDR Park’s Gateway Plaza in late September, when DJ Valentin Flores hosts a dance party that kicks off with a one-hour lesson.

You’ll learn all the hottest Latin dance moves at the all-ages, all-dance-levels event, followed by hours of time to socialize and try out your new dance skills. Plus, Taqueria Morales will keep you fueled with pay-as-you-go antojitos. 

While no tickets are required, organizers welcome RSVPs and donations.

September 27 & October 18, 2026

Se rendre à l'adresse suivante Bok Bar for hours of simmering salsa music and dancing surrounded by stunning views from Bok’s rooftop lounge. 

DJ V Spice et DJ Big George offer free one-hour lessons starting at 3 p.m., guiding you through the classic salsa and bachata rhythms step by step. After that, the DJs provide the tunes, and you provide the moves until 8 p.m. 

The family-friendly event is free to attend, and beginners are welcome.

¡Wepa! Des milliers de spectateurs se pressent le long de la Promenade Benjamin Franklin pour cela défilé annuel et célébration de la culture latino-américaine.

More than 1,500 marchers — including bands, drill teams, dancers and more — make their way down the Parkway each year, featuring traditional Latino music, poetry, dance performances, floats and more.

Concilio — the city’s oldest Latino organization — has been hosting the annual parade for more than 60 years.

Vibe : ¡Viva Boricua!

Get ready to feel the rhythms of salsa, bachata, bolero and reggaeton at this community concert featuring the beloved tale of a young immigrant girl who finds her people while traveling on the 47 bus.

Les Philadelphia Museum of Art’s ongoing Art Kids program celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with kid-approved music and art activities at the Make Some Noise Family Festival. 

The day-long event features a make-and-take castanet activity, bilingual music, an artist meet and greet, explorations of sound and visual patterns in art, and a lively mariachi performance. There’s also a designated sensory-friendly quiet zone for anyone who needs a break from the action.

Just in time to mark Hispanic Heritage Month, Semaine des restaurants latinos returns for the fall iteration of the twice-a-year dining promo celebrating Latino-owned and operated restaurants and eateries across the region

Here’s how it works: Order two dinner entrées at any of the participating restaurants, and enjoy a complimentary appetizer or dessert, plus select limited-time menus whipped up just for the occasion. 

Chambre de commerce hispanique du Grand Philadelphie coordinates the culinary collection of Mexican, South and Central American, and Caribbean eateries.

You’ve no doubt seen Michelle Angela Ortiz’s larger-than-life, evocative art adorning buildings and streets across Philadelphia.

The artist’s alma mater, Moore College of Art & Design, honors 25 years of Ortiz creating national and international art public that embodies human narratives to promote freedom and fight oppression. 

See a collection of the artist’s work at this exhibition at The Galleries at Moore, kicking off during Hispanic Heritage Month and on display through December.

Stretching a bit past the official end of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Penn Museum keeps the celebration going with its annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) CultureFest! on Saturday, October 24, 2026.  

Countries across Latin America and Latino communities across the globe have celebrated the holiday rooted in Indigenous beliefs for thousands of years.

Residents and visitors can support Restaurants appartenant à des Latino-Américains while sampling authentic eats, including Mexican tacos à Prix James Beard winner Cristina Martínez’s Casa Mexico, Central American street food at El Merkury and Argentine alfajores (think: traditional dulce de leche sandwich cookies) at Jezabel’s.

From ancient Mayan artifacts to contemporary crafts and paintings, Latino art thrives in Philadelphia. Reflect on immigrant experiences at South Philadelphia’s Aqui y Alla peinture murale by Michelle Angela Ortiz (see above), marvel at intricate mosaics inside Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, ou laissez-vous émerveiller par les vestiges du passé à l'intérieur Musée de Penn’s Mexico & Central America gallery.
